Huawei P40 Lite vs Xiaomi Mi 9T: Differences and Which One to Buy

In these first months of 2020, it is curious to compare the best mid-range mobiles that are coming onto the market, with their rivals from last year. This time we wanted to see where the new Huawei P40 Lite is, if we compare it with one of the best mid-range terminals of 2019 such as the Xiaomi Mi 9T.

The Huawei P40 Lite has arrived as a cheaper variant of the new P40s recently introduced by Huawei . Likewise, the Mi 9T was presented as the European version of the Redmi K30. Both terminals have some common elements, but significant differences that can make the user opt for one or the other.

Screen and dimensions

First of all we see that both have a similar screen size, reaching 6.4 inches on the P40 Lite and 6.39 inches on the Mi 9T . In addition, they also sport FullHD + resolution and the same screen ratio of 19.5: 9. However, we see that the P40 Lite sports a small hole in the screen to house the front sensor, following the current trend. The Mi 9T for its part, offers a real all-screen design, thanks to the fact that its selfie camera appears pop-up.

In terms of weight and thickness, the new P40 Lite wins , which weighs 183 grams compared to the 190 grams of the Mi 9 T. The same is true, although by a tighter margin with thickness. Again, the Huawei terminal shows a lower value with its 8.7 millimeters compared to the 8.8 millimeters of the Mi 9T.

Processor and memory

When we raised the hood, we found the Kirin and Qualcomm seal. The P40 Lite sports the Kirin 810, accompanied by 6 GB of RAM, while the Mi 9T integrates a Snapdragon 730 with 6 GB of RAM. In this case, the Kirin shows more advanced performance peaks, although both processors are in a mid-range and can compete very efficiently in games or multitasking.

We also see that both devices have 128 GB of internal memory, although the Mi 9T also has a 64 GB variant . However, the Huawei terminal can expand this memory, something that the Xiaomi device cannot do.

Rear cameras and selfie

In the camera section we see a logical difference from the passage of time, where the Huawei P40 Lite plays with an advantage. The terminal sports four rear cameras with a 48-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel wide angle, and two macro and depth sensors of 2 megapixels each. The Mi 9T for its part, has a triple rear camera, also with a 48-megapixel main sensor, 13-megapixel wide-angle sensor and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. On the front, the P40 Lite has a 16-megapixel sensor housed in the notch, while the Mi 9T’s pop-up pop-up front camera reaches 20 megapixels.

Battery and SO

We found very similar connections on both terminals including the 3.5mm millimeter headphone jack that hold both. The P40 Lite moves with EMUI 10 based on Android 10, but we already know that it arrives without the services of Google. The Mi 9T meanwhile, came to market with MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie, but it has already been updated to Android 10 and is expected to do the same with EMUI 12 and Android 11 in the near future. If you look at the batteries, the P40 Lite wins, since it has a capacity of 4,200 mAh and a fast charge of 40W, compared to the 4,000 mAh of the Mi 9T with 18W fast charge.
