Far from slowing down its pitching pace, Huawei is creating the largest family of the P family that is remembered. Only in the “Lite” variant we have three members to choose from . Precisely for this reason, we wanted to put all of them on the table to take a close look at all their technical features and see the differences and advantages of one model over another.
At the moment, we can buy in Spain the Huawei P40 Lite, P40 Lite E and P40 Lite 5G . All have very different features, design and prices. It’s hard to believe that we are dealing with devices from the same family, but this is how Huawei conceived it.
Screens and dimensions
As for its screens, we did not find excessive aesthetic differences where the user can be clear about his decision. They all feature a similar size, with the P40 Lite 5G being the largest at 6.5 inches, while the P40 Lite and P40 Lite E practically match in size at 6.4 and 6.39 inches. However, all three sport a hole to house the front sensor, which leaves no room for any other preference.
As expected by its lower price range, the P40 Lite E is the most modest in terms of its resolution, since it stays with HD +, compared to the FullHD + panels of its brothers. The highest pixel density is found in the 5G model, with 405 dpi, compared to the 398 dpi of the P40 Lite and the 269 dpi of the Lite E. In the multimedia content section, the P40 Lite E 5G takes advantage over the others. models , as it is also compatible with the HDR10 standard.
All Kirin: differences
The P40 Lite 5G stands out from its siblings by integrating the new Kirin 820 , a processor that is also focused on the mid-range, but compatible with 5G networks. The other two models, meanwhile, share a brain with the Kirin 810 . Both processors are practically on par when it comes to performance, with the aforementioned difference in connectivity. Both have been manufactured in a 7nm process, although the clock speeds and the configurations of their cores vary:
- Kirin 810: 1x 2.36 GHz – Cortex-A76 + 3x 2.22 GHz – Cortex-A76 + 4x 1.84 GHz – Cortex-A55
- Kirin 820: 2x 2.2 GHz – Cortex-A76 + 6x 1.9 GHz – Cortex-A55
Both the Huawei P40 Lite and the P40 Lite 5G reach 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory . However, the P40 Lite E only reaches 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The good news is that all three allow you to increase this capacity using external memory cards.
Rear cameras and selfie
To take a look at the cameras, we must separate the comparison between the most powerful in this family, which are the standard P40 Lite and the P40 Lite 5G. In both cases we find a quad rear camera, whose module design is radically different. In the P40 Lite we see a square module, while in the P40 Lite 5G they are located in a rectangular module located vertically. This aspect may like or dislike and be an important factor considering the design.
In both cases, we have 8-megapixel wide-angle sensors, and 2-megapixel depth and macro sensors. The great difference and that offers a more interesting photographic plus to the P40 Lite 5G, is that the main sensor has grown to 64 megapixels, compared to the 40 megapixels that we find in both the P40 Lite and the P40 Lite E. The most popular model Modest, it has three rear cameras that also include an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
Connectivity
In the front hole of all terminals, we find 16 megapixel sensors in the P40 Lite and P40 Lie 5G, and a more modest 8 megapixel sensor in the P40 Lite E. The P40 Lite and P40 Lite 5G sport EMUI 10 based on Android 10 and the download options currently offered by App Gallery, Huawei’s alternative to Google Play. At the moment, the fear of not having Google apps should be non-existent, since they can be easily installed as we have seen on other occasions.
The three terminals have the main connections, highlighting of course only the 5G in the P40 Lite 5, and common options such as Bluetooth 5 or the 3.5 mm headphone jack in all of them. However , only the P40 Lite E runs out of NFC, preventing mobile payments on this device.
Battery and fast charge
The best charging capacity is found in the P40 Lite and P40 Lite 5G, both with 4,200 mAh compatible with 40W fast charge . Only the 5G version also has reverse charging, an advantage to be able to charge other mobiles or wearables when necessary. The P40 Lite E, stays in a bygone era with its microUSB output, compared to the USB-C of its brothers.
Different prices
The prices are very different between both devices. If we want to have a more technically advanced mobile, especially in the connectivity section and with more advanced cameras, the Huawei P40 Lite 5G would be our option, provided that its 399 euros falls within our budget. Going down one step we find the standard P40 Lite , possibly the most balanced model of the three and that we can buy right now for around 230 euros . For its part, the most modest of this trio, the P40 Lite E , is priced at 170 euros at the moment on Amazon. It is undoubtedly the option of those who want to hurry to the maximum and take a functional, complete and economic mobile.
