This week in which the Mobile World Congress should have been held we have met numerous new phones. Even a snack of what it will offer in its high-end Huawei, with its latest mid-range. The Huawei P40 Lite is already official and we want to compare it with the Huawei P30 Lite to know what has changed.

Screen and dimensions
Without a doubt this is one of the aspects that changes most from one generation to another. Because the Huawei P40 Lite now arrives with a 6.4-inch borderless screen with Full HD + resolution, while the front camera is integrated into the screen . For its part, its predecessor had a 6.15-inch screen with Full HD + resolution and that offers us a notch in the form of a drop of water. Therefore the evolution on the screen is evident.
The rest of the design is mainly conditioned by the new quadruple square camera and the integrated fingerprint reader on the side. The P40 Lite measures 159.2 x 76.3 x 8.7 mm, being thicker than its predecessor , which had dimensions of 152.9 x 72.7 x 7.4 mm, probably due to the increase in the battery.
Performance
In this aspect there are important changes, especially in the processor. Because there is a great leap in quality, since the P40 Lite integrates a Kirin 810 , Huawei’s most powerful mid-range processor and also newer. At the time the Huawei P30 Lite integrated the Kirin 710 , a classic mid-range, but that logically yields below.
The new P40 Lite comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage expandable by NM cards, while the P30 Lite has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage expandable by NM cards, therefore it has also improved in RAM.
Camera
Here the jump is evident, because now in the new model we have a quad camera . This integrates sensors of 48 megapixels, 8 megapixels ultra wide angle, 2 megapixels macro and 2 megapixels deep.
In the previous model we had a triple camera , with three sensors of 48 megapixels, 8 megapixels ultra wide angle and 2 megapixels deep, therefore the new model gains a macro lens to make better photography at short distances. In the section of selfies there is no improvement, quite the opposite. Because it goes from the 24 megapixel sensor of the P30 Lite to a 16 megapixel sensor in the new P40 Lite, both with the same opening.
Battery and connectivity
Here the jump in favor of the Huawei P40 Lite is huge, because it mounts a large capacity 4200mAh battery , with a fast charge of no less than 40W . Something that makes the P40 Lite’s 3340mAh pale and its 18W fast charge, therefore the improvement in this aspect is evident.
The connectivity brings us improvements such as Bluetooth 5.0 versus 4.2 of the previous generation, as well as OTG connectivity. The fingerprint reader in the new model is now integrated into the power button , on the right side, while the previous model had a classic on the back.
Software
To this aspect we make a special section, because it is undoubtedly one of the key points when assessing the purchase of the new Huawei P40 Lite. For the reasons you all know, this model does not come with Google apps or services , it does with Android 10 under the EMUI 10 layer, but without that crucial Google software. Something that does the Huawei P30 Lite, which now has Android 10 under EMUI 10 and Google apps and services.
