The Huawei P30 Lite is one of those bestsellers from the Chinese firm, which came in the shadow of its older brothers from the P30 series, but which ended up in the pocket of many users. Its quality / price ratio is one of its strengths, but as we saw a few days ago, the device will not receive EMUI 10.1 in what is a disappointment for its owners. But, what are the reasons why the terminal does not receive all these news that are reaching other models?
Before Huawei began to have problems with the United States and the veto became official, the P30 family was able to leave in all its essence, with Google Services intact. In this way, the P30 Lite belongs to the “before”, while the more recent P40 Lite has the shortcomings that we already know. This could be used by Huawei to further enhance the device with all the new features of EMUI 10.1, but it will not be the case, as confirmed by the company itself and appears in the official calendar of updates of the firm.
Your previous updates
The Huawei P30 Lite was released with Android 9 , and since July 2019 it has promptly received Android security patches without missing the appointment. In addition, its beta update for EMUI 10 was released in November 2019, while the stable version that updated it to Android 10 became official in February 2020.
Reasons not to upgrade to EMUI 10.1
Although the main reason is something internal to Huawei itself, there are several reasons that can lead to the device not updating to EMUI 10.1.
One more mid-range
The user profile in which a mobile phone such as the P30 Lite often ends up, may be less concerned about what updates their phone receives, something that the manufacturer knows and that may be one of the reasons why it is updated for reasons of security, but not to renew your operating system. There is only the Huawei P20 Lite did not see EMUI 10 arrive either, staying with EMUI 9.1. As with the P30 Lite today, many users of the P20 Lite claimed its update.

An outdated processor?
Sometimes updates are discarded not because of age or whim, but due to lack of resources and not being able to guarantee optimal performance in the new update. Recall that the Huawei P30 Lite has the Kirin 710, a processor much less powerful than the Kirin 810 or Kirin 820 that make up the P40 Lite and P40 Lite 5G respectively.
The P30 Lite has also been left with 4 GB of RAM and connection standards such as Bluetooth 4.2, which could play a role against it, especially in some of the new features of EMUI 10.1 such as MeeTime, the Multi-Window and other types of functions that require system resources to perform at a good level.
Internal resources
Keeping a device updated requires internal resources that Huawei may have decided to allocate, for example, to priorities in its near future such as HarmonyOS, its new operating system. If you believe that the Huawei P30 Lite is at its peak of performance, it may be preferable to dedicate these resources to other areas of software development.
Version skip without going through EMUI 10.1
It’s a long shot, but it’s something we’ve seen on other occasions. Recall that Xiaomi‘s Mi Mix 3 5G has been updated to MIUI 12 without first going through MIUI 11, directly from version 10. As we say it is somewhat remote, but if we appeal to the most disproportionate optimism, Huawei has discarded its update to EMUI 10.1 but not EMUI 11 . In this sense, the surprise would be great for many of its users, but as we say, for an unlikely option.
