With the launch of the P40 series already very far in time (although it was last week when the arrival in Spain of the P40 Pro + was announced), the rumors about the Mate 40 range are getting bigger, getting closer to a hypothetical launch of the phones between August and September.

The first characteristics that are rumored for the camera of these new Huawei phones come from the hand of Lin En-Ping, CEO of Largan Precision, a company related to the development of lenses for all types of devices. According to the manager, in the next brand flagships we will find superior quality camera technology thanks, in part, to the development of a 9P FreeForm lens .
This lens would be made up of nine pieces of plastic lenses that allow better light entry to be captured by the image sensor, which is especially useful in low light situations. This is the field, along with zoom, where Huawei has made a special effort in recent years but FreeForm lens technology will also help reduce distortion in wide-angle lenses, helping to eliminate that “fisheye effect” that it shows at the edges of an image.

108 MP lens?
According to sources close to the Huawei supply chain, this 9P lens would not be the only novelty present in the Huawei Mate 40 (and Huawei Mate 40 Pro ) since it is speculated that at the head of the different lenses of the mobile we will have a 108MP sensor with improved optics. This, added to the FreeForm lens technology would help the image clarity present a great improvement over other standard lenses on the market with the 108MP sensor, present in mobiles such as the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 or the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.
Other adjustments and optimizations are also being worked on in the camera unit, but information in this regard is scarce and we will have to wait for the launch of the phone to get closer to see how the Network, as usual, is flooded with rumors on Huawei’s future range caps.
Last year the mobile manufacturer presented its Huawei Mate 30 in mid-September but this year it is likely that this date will be later due to the current pandemic situation. We will be watching for news that reaches us from within the brand.
