The iCloud Keychain allows you to link all the access and login passwords of all the applications that you have downloaded on the iPhone, iPad or Mac. To access the iCloud Keychain , you have to perform the following steps:

  1. Go to Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Scroll down to find Passwords & Accounts.
  3. Click on passwords for websites and apps.

Once we have accessed it, we have alphabetical access to all the accounts and passwords that we have been adding to our iPhone, from different pages, whether it is the password for Twitter, Facebook, Amazon, etc. This password is not stored without your consent, but we have to tell you exactly to store it.

From the Mac we can access the iCloud Keychain from iCloud and through from Safari, where we can access your passwords. The steps to access are very simple and we will describe them below:

  1. Go to Apple menu  > System Settings (or System Preferences).
  2. Click your name and then iCloud. In earlier versions of macOS, click Apple ID, and then click iCloud in the sidebar.
  3. Activate the password and the keychain.

Access passwords

If you want to access any password, you have to use Face ID or Touch ID unlock method. Once inside the application and the passwords, you can perform the following questions that we are going to see below:

  1. From iPhone Settings, tap Settings & Security and select Passwords. Then tap Site & app passwords.
  2. To view a password or access key, select a website or app.
    1. To delete a saved password or access key, tap Delete password or Delete access key.
    2. To update a password or access key, tap Edit.

From your Mac , you can also make changes to iCloud Keychain. The procedure consists of four steps and two subsections. The steps are the following:

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings. In macOS Monterey, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences.
  2. Click on Passwords.
  3. Sign in with Touch ID or enter your user account password.
  4. Select a website, then click the Show details button . On macOS Monterey, click Edit.
    1. To remove a password, click Remove password
    2. To update a password, change it, then click Save.

Two-factor authentication

Within the iCloud keychain options , we have two-factor authentication, which is a default security method that only the device owner can access devices that share the same Apple ID. You can do two-factor authentication from the following ways:

  • On iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings > your name > Password & Security. Tap Turn on two-factor authentication. Then tap Continue and follow the instructions on the screen.
  • On Mac: Go to Apple menu  > System Settings (or System Preferences), then click your name (or Apple ID). Click Password & Security. Next to Two Factor Authentication, click Activate and follow the instructions on the screen.
