Data rates are getting bigger, but we still have to be careful if we do not want to have surprises with gigas that can fly without control. Fortunately, Huawei mobiles incorporate tools that allow us to save a lot on the expense of mobile data , which are often spent unnecessarily.
Android has been integrating these data control tools into the system for years so that the user has accurate information about spending, and can act accordingly. However, many manufacturers such as Huawei go further, since their customization layers, in this case EMUI, integrate more functions to extend this effectiveness, as we will see below.
Control mobile data
The best method is to use the Optimizer, it is an application that comes integrated into Huawei mobiles. Within this tool we will see a section dedicated to the use of data , which allows us to see consumption and manage access to the network. Our first action will be to enable Smart Data Saver, which prevents apps from consuming mobile data in the background.
Smart saving
To do this we will have to click on the Smart Data Saving function and enable the switch. However, we can choose which applications can have unlimited access to mobile data , even when they are running in the background. To stop it we will have to activate the corresponding selectors.
Manage high consumption
In the same way, we will be able to see the management of the applications that are generating a high consumption of data . To do this we touch on Data usage this month, on the Data usage screen, and we will be able to see a comparison of the amount of data consumed by applications. At this point we will be able to Press an application with high data consumption to configure the corresponding limits of mobile data consumption, data roaming or data in the background.
Network access permissions
On the same Data Usage screen, we will have to click on Network access, and then modify the corresponding settings that consume a large amount of data. This will make it only possible to connect to the network when we are under a Wi-Fi connection. This will be valid for many applications such as games or various tools, but possibly it will not suit us for more used applications such as WhatsApp.
To be alert
Within the same optimizer, we can add usage reminders to control data consumption in detail. Within the “Data Usage” / More data settings / Monthly data limit screen. Then, on the More data settings screen, we must click on “Usage reminders” once inside we can configure whether we will receive notifications or if mobile data is deactivated once they have reached a certain monthly limit.
Data always on screen
It is one of the settings that will allow us to keep the data at bay, since they will always be visible on the lock screen. To do this we tap on “More data settings” and tap to show the data used with the screen locked.
