The photo gallery of our iPhone can become a complete mess. With so many channels to receive multimedia content, sometimes we can find photographs that are repeated because we have downloaded it twice or because it has been sent to us repeatedly. In these cases, we can use some tools to put a little order in the Photos application.
iOS does not allow you to delete repeated photos
With the passage of time, photos has evolved to show us our best memories. But the truth is that many other functions are missed to keep the gallery in order. One of these is the automatic analysis of duplicate photos and their subsequent elimination, something that we have to do using third-party applications. Obviously it is difficult to trust third-party applications in the App Store since they must analyze the entire photo gallery of our iPhone to determine which ones are duplicates.
But if we have a gallery that is a real chaos, the most recommendable thing is to use this type of tools to organize it a little and eliminate everything we have in duplicate.
Delete duplicate photos on iPhone
One of the easiest applications to use, and one of the most recommended, is Duplicate Photos Remover . This app is completely free and only fulfills the function we are looking for: analyze and eliminate duplicates of Photos.
Once we have downloaded the application, we can run it and the first thing that is asked of us is authorization to access our photo gallery. Once authorized, we will click on ‘Scan’ so that it begins to analyze all the photographs that we have stored. It is not necessary that we are all the time in the app waiting for it to finish, since once the analysis has been run we can exit and we will be notified when the gallery has finished analyzing.
When you have finished analyzing our gallery we will be shown all the photos that are identical at first. After taking a look to check that everything is in order we can go to the upper right corner and click on the three option points. In the drop-down menu we will choose ‘Select All’ , and in this way one of the duplicated photos will be marked for deletion after clicking on the garbage icon that we have in the lower right corner. But once it is checked we can add exceptions to prevent it from being removed.
But we don’t always have exact pictures on the reel, they are similar . This is very typical of when we take a photograph and then take another one and then choose which one we like the most. In this case, the application also allows us to see these photographs that are not identical but are similar. To do this we must go to the top and switch to the second tab where all the matches that have been found are collected. Following the same process as before, we can choose those that we want to eliminate so that we will never see them again.
By clicking on delete the application will ask us for permission to discard all the photographs we have chosen. We must bear in mind that with this action they are removed from all the teams linked through iCloud , but we can reverse this decision.
Recover deleted photos
When we delete a photo from the gallery, it goes to an album called ‘Deleted’ where the photos are stored for 30 days. To access this album simply follow these steps:
- Open Photos on your iPhone.
- At the bottom we choose ‘Albums’.
- At the end of the screen we will see the ‘Deleted’ section and enter this.
- Press in the upper right corner ‘Select’ and choose the photos you want to recover.
- Press in the lower right corner ‘Recover’.
You should bear in mind that the photographs we have deleted will only be here for 30 days. Once this time has elapsed, they will be automatically deleted to avoid saturating the internal storage of the device, and they cannot be recovered.
