What is TLS 1.3
TLS 1.3 is one of those security protocols that are present when browsing the network and that can prevent data leakage and that our information can be compromised. It’s all about transport layer security. It is a protocol that allows secure communication on the network and is the latest version.
We can say that it is the technology behind HTTPS . The green padlock that we can see in many browsers when we enter a web page and indicates that that site is secure.
One of the functions is to exchange keys to transport information securely. It supports different types of encryption such as AES, AES128, AES256, AESCCM … Also, in this new version it eliminates other old encryption that may not be secure today.
Of course it also affects privacy. Its mission is to prevent a possible intruder from detecting our connections and being able to analyze traffic, even requests.
But it also improves the speed over previous versions. This is essential for the loading of a website. Reduce latency time when encrypting data.
How to know if we have TLS 1.3 activated
In order to take advantage of this protocol, of its latest version, it is necessary to have a compatible browser . We already know that we have at our disposal a wide range of possibilities to navigate. However, not all of them will be compatible and will allow you to have this latest version.
But also, beyond having or not having a compatible browser, it must be taken into account that it must be activated correctly. For this reason, we are going to explain in a simple way what we can do to check if we have TLS 1.3 activated . It is a quick and easy process.
We can do this using the CloudFlare tool enabled for this mission. There we simply have to click on Check My Browser (check my browser) and it will perform a test to verify if it is compatible and has different protocols activated. One of them, as we see, is TLS 1.3.
In case the green tick appears, it is that it is correctly activated and therefore we can browse websites that use this protocol without problems, taking advantage of all the advantages that this implies.
