We cannot download HBO Max on Amazon Fire TV by default on any of its models if you have the Amazon section and want to use it on the TV. In that case, there are some tricks that we can follow to be able to install HBO Max on any of the Amazon devices until it officially appears in the app store. We will only need to have the device and an account on the streaming platform since we will need to log in once downloaded.
All the cheats are completely legal and we are not going to pirte any HBO Max content but to force install it so that you can use it on your TV with the Amazon device.
From the Amazon website
From the Amazon website itself we can download the app if we previously change the country or region configuration that we have in the account.
- Let’s go to our Amazon account
- We touch on “Account and lists”
- We open the section “Manage content and devices”
- In the tabs at the top, we choose “preferences”
- Here we will see the option “Configuration of the country or region”
- You will see that it indicates “Current country Spain” but tap on “Change”
- A popup will open where you can change the country
- Choose “United States”
Here we will have to fill in a series of false data with a United States address and zip code, you can use Google. Once you have it, you must update the Amazon page and you will be able to search for “HBO Max” in the search engine to download the app and add it to your device on the television, without complications.
From mobile phone
We can install HBO Max on the Amazon Fire TV if we send the APK from the mobile phone if we have previously installed it, although the process is much more annoying and slow than the previous one. We need to have the application in APK format on our smartphone and we need to have a file transfer application between the phone and the Amazon device to be able to send it to the device.
We explain it step by step…
- Go to your mobile phone and download Send to file
- Go to your Amazon Fire TV and download Send to file from the app store
Once we have this, we go to the device settings:
- Open Amazon Fire TV
- Go to the gear icon to open the settings or configuration
- Go to “My Fire TV”
- Once here, look for “Developer Options” in the menu
- You will see “Install unknown apps”
- Access and allow access to this type of applications
From your mobile phone, download the HBO Max APK from an app store. With the file already downloaded on your smartphone, go to the Send to file app and tap on “Send” to send it to the Amazon Fire TV Stick.
Once we’ve shipped the APK, we need an app or program that will work as a file explorer on the Amazon device. You can choose the one you want or use one that you already have previously installed. With this file explorer we can go to the “Download” folder where we will see the HBO Max APK.
Tap on the file, as it is in the image and tap on “Install app”. After a few seconds, the Amazon Fire TV will tell you that the app has been installed correctly and you just have to open it to access HBO Max and log in with your credentials.
Download the app from the Fire TV
We cannot download the app from the app store, as we have already said. But we can do it through different application stores that allow us to download the APK file and install it in the same way that we have done in the previous step. In this case we only need a browser.
Use Amazon Silk, Amazon’s browser, to find the app store you want. For example, Uptodown. Make sure the app store is trustworthy and search for HBO Max to download the APK on your Amazon Fire TV. Once you have it, follow the steps to install it and log in with your username and password.
