How to connect the mobile with a smart speaker

Before starting with the explanations, we must know that it does not matter if we have a terminal that uses Android or the iOS operating system, the process to link and connect our smartphone with any smart speaker is similar. Nor does it matter the brand or the different layers of customization of Android, the methods and apps work in the same way.

Link your mobile with the Amazon Echo

We will start by looking at the Amazon Echo option, one that you could really take advantage of, as long as you know how to connect the phone with this device. Don’t worry, because the process is very simple, you only have to follow the following steps. Although, first of all, download the Alexa app on Android or iOS :

• First, we must go on to activate Bluetooth on the smartphone.
• Later, and once we have downloaded the application, we have to register or log in if we already have an account created on the Amazon platform.
• Now, we must plug in the speaker and in the meantime we follow the following steps.
• We will have to go to the last tab called ‘ My Devices ‘ and tap on the button at the top with a ‘ + ‘.
• It will ask us what type we want to add and in this case we choose Echo .
• In the next section we touch on Amazon Echo again and then we choose the specific model we have.

Connect to the Echo

After having followed the previous process, the application will ask us if the device has an orange light , which is necessary to be able to start the connection correctly with any smartphone. Once verified, we continue. Also, it will start detecting them via Bluetooth. When it is finished, the ones available will appear and we only have to choose it so that they are paired correctly:

• Within the ‘Devices’ section, where we will be able to choose the different options offered by the speaker.
• Then select Echo and Alexa > choose your smartphone > tap Bluetooth Devices and Pair New .
• After a few seconds, we will see how it has been configured correctly.
• And best of all, the next time you want to pair your mobile with this peripheral, you just have to activate this connection on your phone or on the speaker and say : ‘ Pair Bluetooth ‘.

Although, after the initial pairing is complete, it’s quite possible that some Bluetooth devices will automatically reconnect to your Echo when they come within range. So if you don’t want them to connect automatically, you’ll need to turn off the speaker or forget the speaker’s connection through your smartphone’s settings.

Other smart speakers with Alexa

The wide variety of smart speakers that are available is not limited to the Echo, for example, we find other alternatives from the Sonos or Bose brands that allow us to use them with Alexa. The process is very similar, although it changes when connecting them.

After downloading the application on our mobile and activating Bluetooth, we go to the ‘Devices’ tab of the Alexa app. We touch on one of the last options where it says ‘Speaker’ and we choose the brand if it appears or the other option. As the page tells us, there are some models that need a skill to be able to use it, but we can do this after having connected.

Pair the phone to a Google speaker

When it comes to connecting with a peripheral from the American company, we will have two methods to achieve it from our smartphone. And best of all, it won’t be difficult at all.

Do it with Google Home

The process to connect and link a Google Home to our mobile is very simple. First of all, we have to activate the Bluetooth of our smartphone and then download the Google Home application on Android or iOS, an app that works the same on both operating systems. If you still do not have it in your terminal, from the following links you can download it on your phones:

• Once downloaded, we must access the app with our Google account.
• Then, we will have to touch in the upper left corner on the ‘ + ‘ button.
• Now, we will have to tap on ‘ configure device ‘.
• Next, you must click on the option that says ‘ Configure new ‘, among which, in addition to Google Home, Chromecast or other types of Google smart screens appear.
• Then, we select the house where we want to add it and the search will begin, remember to have it on.

However, if in your case the previous option does not appear, or none of the previous steps have worked for you, you should look for the following way: tap ‘ Start ‘ > ‘ Configure new devices ‘ > ‘ Create another house ‘ > ‘ Next ‘ > write the name you want to give it and the address of the house (this option can be omitted if we prefer it).

Use the smartphone assistant

The Google assistant is one of the most requested and that we can find on more devices. There are countless smart speakers with Google Assistant and that makes it more complicated to connect it with our mobile. Among the most popular we find Bose or Sonos, which we can connect from the official applications of each brand , although yes, we also need the Google Home app on our phone.

Once we enter the app, we have to follow the following steps, with slight changes depending on the app:

• We enter the smart speaker app with Google Assistant that we have.
• We create an account or log in, if possible, with the same email that we use in Google, to avoid possible errors.
• We go into the application settings.
• We select ‘ Voice Assistant ‘ and choose Google Assistant.

Pair it with your HomePod

Apple’s limitations reach the HomePod, since its use is exclusive to iOS-based devices, specifically with the version higher than iOS 11, so we cannot use it with Android .

However, to connect our iPhone to the HomePod the process could not be easier. First we have to plug the HomePod into power. Then, we must wait to hear a sound and for a white light to appear on the top of the device. After this, we must follow the following steps:

• We unlocked our iPhone and snuck it right next to the smart speaker with Bluetooth turned on.
• The option to configure it and choose the room where we want to place it or give access to the Wi-Fi of our house will appear in a few seconds.
• Next, it will ask us to use the camera to recognize the device and link it with your Apple account or do it manually through a code, at which point Siri will respond with a four-digit access code that you will have to enter on the smartphone. the American brand.
• Once completed, the digital assistant of the apple brand will greet you and give you an example of what you can request or ask. From there, we can use the Apple Home app to configure its options and personalize the experience.

In case we have any of the speakers with which Siri is compatible, we have to do several steps to be able to use it. The first thing we must do before connecting the mobile with a smart speaker that is compatible with Siri is to previously connect our phone to the Wi-Fi network through the official app, which will depend on whether we are using a Sonos peripheral or another Mark. The next thing we have to do is the following:

• Go to the Apple Home app .
