How to activate Safe Mode on Samsung mobiles

On our site, we are always providing you with tutorials, tips and tricks so that your mobiles work perfectly at all times. There is no brand or model that is free from suffering different problems. However, when all other solutions fail, it may be time to make use of the Safe Mode that we can activate on Samsung phones with One UI.

Many issues can be resolved with a few simple tweaks, or a simple software update. Although, luckily, the solution is usually always within our reach. For this reason, when there are conflicts with any of the multiple applications that we have installed on a Samsung Galaxy, Safe Mode may be our only hope. A tool to keep in mind when we start to suffer from different errors for which, at first, there doesn’t seem to be a single way to fix them.

What is Safe Mode

It is a method of starting the Android operating system thinking about when the system operation problems arise. The main feature of Safe Mode is that the system starts without the applications downloaded or installed by the user being loaded , but with all the necessary files to function correctly.

Basically, we are facing one of the modes that come standard in the Samsung that will allow us to get a special power on the mobile , with which only the system and the applications that already came standard will be loaded. Therefore, any app that we have installed on our own will not be available.

reiniciar modo seguro

This will prevent malicious applications, those that malfunction or have conflicts (causing problems) from being loaded at startup to make changes to the system. In this way we can go through them one by one to find the problem and eliminate it if necessary.

But, so that you have a clearer idea of what this function is for us, we leave you a list with all the things that we could do thanks to this software tool:

  • Detect applications that give failures in the smartphone.
  • Remove apps with viruses.
  • Load a clean system without applications that we have installed on our own.
  • Being able to manually diagnose performance, that is, see if the smartphone works normally since the apps that we had installed are not loaded.
  • Software errors: we can confirm or rule out failures of predetermined tools, as is the case with the telephone keyboard.

how do i activate it

In order to activate Safe Mode, we must bear in mind that there are two ways to access this tool that is integrated into all Samsung smartphones. Therefore, we are going to explain the steps you must follow to enter it in both ways.

With the phone off

The first option will be with the Samsung mobile completely off. At this point, depending on the model we have, we will have to touch one button or another, but in general this will be the process that we will have to follow:

  1. After turning off the smartphone, press the power/Bixby key until the Samsung logo appears.
  2. At that time, we must press the volume down button, until the smartphone turns on.

When the computer has successfully started, we will see the Safe Mode message at the bottom left of the screen. In some older mobiles, we must access by pressing the power key and the physical menu key at the same time.

With the Samsung on

As we had mentioned before, there is not only one possible option to enter Samsung Safe Mode . However, the easiest alternative will be when we have the device turned on with One UI.

  1. The first thing we must do is press and hold the physical power off button on the smartphone until a pop-up window appears with different options.
  2. In it, we must press and hold the shutdown or restart option until a message appears on the phone screen in which it will be proposed to Restart in safe mode .
  3. In this message, we will only have to click on the Accept option and voila, you will restart the mobile in safe mode.

However, there is another peculiar way to access this tool in those terminals that have the Bixby serial button , we can press it and say the following command: ‘Activate safe mode’. This works, for example, on the Galaxy S9. Once we have told the voice assistant that, a virtual key will appear on the screen that we must press to restart the device and access this function.

What if I want to go out?

The easiest way is to turn off the mobile and turn it on again. In addition, if we move the notification bar, we will see how it tells us if it is activated or not, so that you know it at all times. After this, it will be as easy as entering the phone’s shutdown menu (by pressing the power key) and clicking on the Restart option.

If it doesn’t work on the first try, we’ll have to try again a second time. In this way, the system should start correctly in normal mode. Although, we can also force the restart. To do this, we must hold down the volume down and power keys for at least 5 seconds.

Problems with Safe Mode

Sometimes different problems can appear, when the terminal continues to start automatically in the system in Safe Mode. If the mobile has a removable battery, we must turn off the phone, remove the battery and wait at least 2 minutes to turn the device back on. Even if we can’t get it to turn off, it’s best to remove it anyway, even if it’s completely on.

In Samsung phones with a non-removable battery, we will have to let the battery run out completely to turn on the device in normal mode. Or, force the restart, as we had explained before.

If even so, the mobile continues to indicate that Safe Mode is active , we will have to turn off the device and turn it on by holding down the volume up key. Sometimes, the fact that the mobile does not come out of Safe Mode after all the attempts, may be due to the fact that the user has made some modification to their Android operating system (Rooting).
