Gamepads Razer Tartarus V2 vs Logitech G13: The Comparison

When you are an inveterate gamer, you may have thought of going a little further and instead of playing with keyboard and mouse, you have considered acquiring a specific gamepad . So, in this article we compare the Razer Tartarus V2 against the Logitech G13 , two of the best gamepads on the market for all kinds of PC games and which, of course, are fully configurable to the user’s taste.

This type of peripherals are logically oriented to gaming, and in fact they are surely the most “gaming” device out there as it is one of the few specifically designed for it. They are intended to be used with the left hand, replacing the keyboard in games with a device with a good handful of programmable keys to perform the actions we want.

In this comparison we are going to put the Razer Tartarus V2, the last of the many versions of this product, face to face, with the Logitech G13, surely the longest-lived of these products but that even today is still a top seller. For reference, the recommended price of the Razer Tartarus V2 is 89.99 euros, compared to 79.99 euros for the Logitech G13 (these are the manufacturer’s recommended retail prices).

Both gamepads have a fair amount of programmable keys as the user prefers via software, but Razer’s Tartarus V2 has 7 additional keys, including the click buttons and the scroll wheel buttons. Both also have an 8-way crosshead (analog joystick) with additional click buttons, but the Tartarus wins again for having a scroll wheel, although it is quite unnecessary because this device is intended to be used in combination with a mouse, the which is already understood to have this element.

Actually, the biggest difference between both gamepads is that the Logitech G13 has an LCD screen that can show us information about both the hardware and the game we are playing, as long as it is compatible.

As for ergonomics, both have a generous wrist rest but the truth is that the Logitech G13 is quite straight, and although the hand position is quite comfortable, the “split” wrist rest of the Razer Tartarus V2 is much more natural for a more comfortable hand position.

In terms of functionality, both are exactly the same, since they allow you to configure all of your keys to your liking. In this regard, the hybrid keys of the Tartarus V2 are more satisfactory to press than those of the Logitech G13, which are simply membrane.

Which of the two is the best option?

Both have a fairly similar price, being the Tartarus V2 slightly more expensive than the Logitech G13, although the latter today is sometimes difficult to find since it is a somewhat old product already.

The Tartarus V2 offers more keys and the hand position is more natural, making it more comfortable to use in the long run. The Logitech G13’s biggest draw is of course its LCD screen, but it has fewer configuration options (lacking scroll and fewer keys) and the position is a bit more awkward.

If we had to choose one of the two, we believe that the winner would be the Razer Tartarus V2 , since the incentive of the G13 that is the screen is not that we consider it necessary, and in general terms the Tartarus is more modern and with greater versatility.
