Future iMac with Apple Silicon, Launch in 2021?

The Apple Silicon are already a reality and not only in the iPhone and iPad, but also in the renewed Mac mini, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air with M1 chip. Apple will be extending its processors to the rest of the range of computers in its catalog, but without a doubt the most anticipated is the iMac. These desktops have been with the same design for several years, so the bets are focused on a possible external renovation that accompanies the internal one. The question is, when will it be launched on the market? We analyze it.

March could be an ideal date

Traditionally we have seen product launches by Apple in the third month of the year. Even in this 2020, in full expansion of the coronavirus, we had an exception with the range of laptops. Now it is rumored that the brand is preparing various products, including AirPods Studio , AirTags and even a possible renewal of the iPad Pro. It could therefore also be an ideal time to launch its first iMac with Apple Silicon.

Will the design really change?

We have seen numerous concepts in these years and especially in recent months. Despite the fact that each one is different, in the end they all agree on a reduction in the frames that makes the iMac a much more current team and at the height of what competing computers have and even themselves in the MacBook range. However, there are no absolute certainties around this. The MacBook Pro with M1 could be a bad example in this case, since it was expected that they could reach 14 inches with a reduction of frames and finally incorporated a design identical to that of its predecessor with Intel.

However, the hope is that in the case of the MacBook Pro there is already a design that, to a greater or lesser extent, has been changing in recent years. This does not happen with iMac and hence perhaps if it could be subject to redesign by the Cupertino company. Or maybe they make a mix and keep the classic design in the ‘normal’ iMac and do the redesign for the ‘Pro’, although in the latter case it would take longer to see it, since the WWDC that takes place in June is more given to renovations of these professional teams.

Will it carry the M1 chip?

It is suspicious that Apple has released an M1 chip and has not added it to the most demanding computers, such as the 16-inch MacBook Pros or precisely the iMac. Without any official information in this regard, it is clear that the company is already developing future versions of its processors. Although the M1 is already giving great results, it would not be surprising if the new version of the iMac arrived either with an M2 chip or with an M1X that could be an improved version of the first.

Be that as it may, we will have to keep waiting to learn more about it. That there will be new iMac in 2021 is an open secret and something that has been playing since the summer.
