Some folding mobiles that Samsung undoubtedly leads in sales and innovation, but that every time is going to see how the competition is more fierce. In fact, almost all of its opponents will launch new phones before the end of this year.
A busy end of the year for folding
Today we know new information from China that suggests that a good number of folding mobiles could reach the market in the next three months, before the end of 2021. This new information comes to us from a specialist from the DSCC firm , specialized in screens, which has revealed important information, theoretically first-hand, about mobile phones with a folding screen that will arrive in the coming months. In this list you can see mobile phones from up to four different manufacturers , largely confirming the information we learned a few months ago.
In this list, you can see within Q4 2021, or what is the same in the fourth quarter of 2021, four phones from Google, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo . Of the first we have already known some data, the Pixel Fold, while of the others there are not many details about how they will be. In the case of Xiaomi, we could see an alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, with a shell format, because let’s remember that a few months ago it presented the Mix Fold, a phone in the image and likeness of the Samsung Fold. Therefore by the end of this year we will have more folding models from more manufacturers than ever.
Samsung will continue to lead the market
Despite the stiff competition that it will have at the end of this year, Samsung has taken a lot of advantage in this segment, being the first manufacturer to launch one of these phones, two years ago. This year, folding sales are expected to grow up to three times more than the previous year.
Regarding market share, Samsung is expected to retain 88% of this market this year. Compared to 2023, the weight of folding in mobile sales is expected to be 10 times higher. By then Samsung would retain the top spot in sales, with a 75% market share. What is evident is that the remaining months of 2021 are going to be exciting in this segment of the mobile phone.
