Find Your Silent Phone in Seconds with Google Home

We’ve all been there before; your phone is on silent, at home somewhere and you have no one to call it. But Google Home comes with one feature that allows you to find your phone if it’s in Do Not Disturb mode, by making it ring. Not here, but here’s how to set it up so you’ll always be a quick command away from finding your phone!

Use Google Home to Find Phone

Finding Your Phone on a Google Home

Make sure your phone is connected to Google account that your Google Home is connected to. You actually need to feed this connection so that the Google Home recognizes where your phone is at.

Link Your Google Account

On your phone, open the Google Home app and make sure Google Home and your Android phone have the same person signed in to it in your Google account.

Ensure an Internet Connection

Make sure that Google Home can talk to your phone — which means that your phone has to have internet access (WiFi or mobile data).

Now that it’s connected and linked, you have all that you need to use the “Find My Phone” feature.

How to get Google Home to find your phone.

With everything set up, all you need to do is say:

  • “OK Google, where’s my phone?”
  • “OK Google, find my phone.”

Google Home also asks which of your phones you’re looking for if you have more than one on your account. It’ll ring it if it’s just one, even when it’s on silent or Do not disturb mode.

And what about when my phone is in Do Not Disturb Mode?

The best thing about this feature is that it can get around Do Not Disturb mode, so you can still hear the ring even when you’ve put your phone on silence. It’s perfect for those that can’t remember where they left it.

Finding Your Phone In Alternative Ways

If you do not have the Google Home available, you are still able to find your device with Google’s Find My Device feature. You can from another phone or computer have your phone ring, show its location on a map, or even lock or erase it if you think it has been stolen. Still, Google Home is a better, hands-free way to find your phone at home.

With Google Home, losing your phone at home is an no biggie. With just ‘OK Google, where’s my phone?’ it’ll be ringing in seconds, and there will be no need to run around making every which way trying to find it!
