Everything HBO Max needs to change to catch up with Netflix or Disney +

On October 26, HBO Max finally lands in our country. With its arrival, the platform is expected to take a leap in quality and can catch up with other streaming platforms that are available such as Netflix or Disney +. HBO has very good and excellent quality content like many of its series or movies, but there are other sections in which it still has to improve.

How does the platform have to change to be able to catch up with Disney + or Netflix?

Number of devices

For example, HBO should expand the number of devices the platform can be viewed on. Right now, it can be used through Apple TV, Chromecast, mobiles, tablets, Smart TV, web, Vodafone TV and PlayStation 4.

Everything HBO Max needs to change

Disney + for its part can also be viewed on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS5, Fire TV, Roku and LG televisions, while Netflix also includes Microsoft consoles and even the WiiU, along with the PS5.

Profiles

Profiling is another HBO puzzle. While several profiles can be created within the same Netflix or Disney + account (up to 5 on Netflix and 7 on Disney +), on HBO there is no such option. We can only choose between a normal profile or a child profile. Also, only up to five devices can be registered.

The creation of profiles is a very positive aspect for users since there are many groups of friends or families who share an account, and each one can adjust their profile according to their interests , adding what they want to their own list.

Simultaneous devices and trial period

At most, on HBO only two devices can simultaneously stream content from the same account. However, both Netflix and Disney + offer the possibility of being able to use up to 4 simultaneous devices.

It would also be a good idea for the platform to include the trial period again , since, in this way, many people could test the content and then make the decision whether to subscribe or not.

The interface can improve a lot

In addition, the interface is quite improvable. Netflix has a category section at the top, to be able to filter the content when looking for what we want to see. In this way, the contents do not appear mixed and it is all easier for the user.

In Disney + you can also filter the contents of Marvel, Star Wars, Star, Pixar, National Geographic or Disney. In addition to that, when selecting “Search”, different lists created by the Star Wars saga, Alien or Toy Story, among others, will appear. In addition, there is also a section at the top that filters the content between movies and series, being able to choose the category we want within each menu.

As for HBO, if it is true that its content appears differentiated by categories, but to get there you have to scroll many times on the screen. Adding a menu at the top would be an ideal solution, just as the competition does.

More options to subscribe

Another aspect that draws the attention of HBO is that there is only one option to subscribe. Disney + offers the monthly and annual option and Netflix up to three different subscription plans (basic, standard and premium), while HBO only gives the option to pay each month. An annual subscription would not be a bad idea.

Resolution and deletion of history

1080p is the maximum resolution that HBO offers, while Netflix and Disney + are capable of offering content in 4K resolution. The history can be erased from both Disney + and Netflix, something that HBO does not allow to do.

Therefore, if HBO Max wants to get as high as Netflix or Disney +, it must apply many of these things to improve the platform and, consequently, the user experience.
