Apple recently released the fourth beta version of iOS 13.5 for developers. The main novelty of this update comes in the form of changes to the Settings app to manage the COVID-19 exposure record. Now Apple, to cover their backs in terms of privacy, warns that the Exposure Record cannot be activated without an application authorized by a public health authority. In addition, the update introduces other changes such as the possibility of deleting exposure records and managing other installed applications related to the Chinese cornavirus.

Apple explains that Exposure recording cannot be activated without an authorized application installed that can send exposure notifications . When enabled, iPhone can exchange random IDs with other devices via Bluetooth. Random IDs collected by the device are stored in an exposure log for 14 days. This exposure record allows an authorized application to notify you if you may have been exposed to someone infected with Covid-19 .
If you are one of those diagnosed with the disease, you can choose to share the random identifications of your own device with the authorized application so that other people can be notified anonymously.
Turn alerts on or off
To activate and deactivate alerts you must have iOS 13.5 installed on the phone, either in beta or waiting for the final version of the device.
- Go to the Settings app on your iPhone
- Scroll down and select Privacy
- Now choose the Health option
- Click on COVID-19 Exposure Record at the top
- When there is an authorized app app, you can enable or disable exposure notifications by pressing the button to enable or disable alerts
- You can also delete the exposure records manually at any time at the bottom of the settings
