Today, coinciding with the celebration of the HDC of the Chinese brand, the final version of EMUI 11 has finally come true. Due to time problems, the brand has finally developed its operating system on Android 10, and not on Android 11, but that does not mean that EMUI 11 does not come to brim with news.
We have had the opportunity to test the new layer of brand customization for a few days to discover all the changes present in EMUI 11 with respect to EMUI 10.1 . Most of them affect the interface and user experience, the interconnection between devices and, above all, the security and privacy of our data.
As expected, this operating system is once again working on an AOSP version of Android and it does not have Google services, but it does have updated HMS to make life easier for the user.
New user experience
Huawei‘s system arrives loaded with new application icons, new colors, an improved one-handed mode, improved performance and loading, new gestures, new features in dark mode and other minor improvements, but the big news are the following:
More natural animations
Thanks to Eye Tracking technology, the mobile interface now does not base its animations on screen changes, but on enlargements and reductions of the windows from the place we click to full screen view. This makes it more natural and fluid to work with multiple apps continuously.
Smart multiscreen
Perhaps the great novelty of EMUI 11 . Now when executing multitasking, as in EMUI 1.0, we can work with a floating window superimposed on the home screen to work with two apps at the same time. EMUI 11 will allow us not only to change the size and arrangement of this app on the screen, but also to minimize it and host it in one of the phone’s profiles in the form of a “Quick Ball” to access it immediately.
New AOD
The Always On display receives new artistic styles: Piet Mondrian and Memphis. Inspired by large art leftovers, we can choose the color of the elements even based on an image from our gallery, from which the tones will be adopted to create a unique AOD. Also now you can choose your own image or a photo to set it as the Always ON screen image.
Device interconnection
Again, Huawei once again focuses on using its AI functions to be able to interconnect devices via EMUI 11.
MultiScreen 3.0
The new version of the Huawei operating system will allow us to connect the mobile phone to the computer in a simple way and control up to 3 mobile apps on the computer screen, promoting productivity when working.
MEeTime and Celia improvements
MeeTime now also integrates with some third-party apps and adds new features to improve the quality of broadcasts. In the same way, Huawei’s assistant, Celia, reaches new regions showing off new tricks and tools.
Security and privacy
Huawei wants EMUI 11 to have a “Conscious, Controllable and Invisible” security system. For this he has worked on new hidden albums and a review of the management of permissions requested by the apps. In addition, the manufacturer insists that all processes are carried out on the phone, they never “go up to the cloud” unless the user previously specifies it.
App permission log 
Now all the apps that request access to a specific permission will be registered so that we can control what accesses what more quickly. Furthermore, the brand does not want to grant “eternal” permissions to apps that can be kept even when the app is not active. For this reason, the “Allow forever” option is removed from the EMUI 11 permissions and changed to “Do not allow” “Allow only at this time” or “Allow if the app is in use”.
Secret photos and notes
Future EMUI 11 revisions will feature the option to hide our photos in a secret system album, which will make the photos from the main album disappear. The same will happen with the notes app, thus preventing third-party apps from accessing both.
Information to share
Another novelty of EMUI 11 that Huawei has worked on is the possibility of erasing the information that we attach when sharing a photo. In this way we only send the image or video in question, no dates, locations and other information present on our device.
Other novelties
System applications receive improvements. The perfect example of this is the notes app that now includes a function to scan documents, extract texts from them and capture photos that are converted into notes. The camera app now also allows you to edit videos using AI tools and, like Google Photos, it will suggest edits and collections. In addition the gallery also changes, reminding us of One UI, and the albums now have a new 4: 3 display mode. Huawei also explains that the Photos tab can now be consulted by month or by day
Something that has caught our attention is that now the motor of the phone allows you to synchronize the vibration with the melodies of the phone, executing audio and vibration at the same rate.
