We know, taking a new phone out of its box is a delight, but once you start using it there is something that starts to unhinge you. By default, almost all the keyboard apps that are installed on our mobile have either the sound or the vibration activated and it is something that many do not quite like.
By default, when you write a message or simply navigate the menus of your Android phone, the smartphone vibrates every time a key is pressed. This is a feature that, obviously, can be annoying in the long run, especially if you write your texts quickly. It can also annoy those around you who are constantly listening to the vibration of your phone.
Of course, there is an option to eliminate vibrations from your phone’s keypad as well as the tones that you can play at any time.
Why does the keyboard vibrate when I press a key?
The most curious may wonder what are the vibrations that appear on the mobile when touching the keyboard. Although it may seem ancient, the goal of mobile manufacturers and software developers is simple: to imitate the sensation produced by pressing a “mechanical” key.
Nowadays we are already very far from telephones with real keys and nobody or almost nobody needs to “physically” check that a certain region of the keyboard has been pressed or not.

How to disable keyboard sound on Android
To deactivate the sound that the keyboard makes when pressing a key, you must directly access the keyboard settings that you are using by default. To do this, you must open the Settings panel, access the System menu and within locate the Language and text input options.
Here, within the virtual keyboard section, you will find the app that you have installed by default on your mobile, as we have said, generally Gboard. Click on it and you will find a screen like the one below that allows you to access the usage preferences. Scroll down the screen to the bottom and uncheck the Sound on keypress switch .
How to disable keyboard vibration on Android
As you can see in the previous process, the route to eliminate keyboard vibration in Android is the same, except that instead of disabling the Sound switch, you should turn off the one that enables the touch response of the keyboard when pressing any key.
But here, the latest versions of Android add one more option to not only cancel the vibration of the keyboard on Android, but also that of the system (gestures or other actions that make the mobile vibrate, except in calls and receiving notifications.
Within the Settings app of your mobile, access the Sound and vibration section. If you scroll to the bottom you will see an option called “Vibrate on touch” which also cancels the vibrations of the keyboard . If you can’t find it, it may stay in the menu More sound settings.
And in other apps like Swifkey?
If almost all smartphones work with Gboard, the rest of the manufacturers that do not use the Google app use SwiftKey, the Microsoft app.
Fortunately for everyone who uses the SwiftKey keyboard, it is also possible to configure everything related to haptic feedback for sound and vibration. To configure its options, open the SwiftKey app, then tap “Sound and vibration” and, in the sound and vibration settings, you can disable both sound and vibration.
And what about Huawei phones?
As you know, the latest Huawei phones that have just arrived on the market cannot use Google apps, which is why the brand’s smartphones use, for now, the Microsoft option.

How to deactivate conversation tones and keyboard vibration in WhatsApp and other messaging apps?
Another different thing is that we want to eliminate the classic conversation tones that many messaging apps present when writing texts or when receiving certain messages or multimedia elements. In this case, we must act on the preferences of the app itself, and not the mobile keyboard.
In the case of WhatsApp , eliminating the sound and vibrations that the platform emits when sending or receiving messages is a matter of opening the Settings panel, clicking on the icon in the upper right corner, accessing the Notifications options and unchecking the first option that plays sounds for incoming and outgoing messages when you are in a conversation.
If you are more of Telegram than WhatsApp, the process is something different. You must display the side menu, press the settings button and access the Notifications and sounds options. Once inside, locate the tools that allow you to configure notifications within the app and turn off all the switches. In this way you will make the mobile ring or vibrate when you receive messages, photos or are writing your texts.
