Android TV and Google TV let you organize streaming apps, find shows and maintain a compatible TV or streaming device. These tips cover practical settings; menu names can vary by model and software version.
Put your most-used apps first
On Google TV, find an app in the Your apps row, hold Select on the remote and choose Move. Move it left or right, confirm with Select and choose Done. Some devices also have a Reorder tile.
Android TV layouts can differ. Use your device’s home-screen options to manage favorite apps rather than assuming every TV has the same launcher controls.
Adjust Google TV recommendations
On Google TV, open Settings > Accounts & Sign In, select your profile and review Your services. Select the services you actually use. Adding titles to your Watchlist also helps Google understand your interests. Recommendations do not mean a film is included in your subscriptions; check availability before paying.
Install apps that support your TV
Use the Apps tab or search on the TV to find a service, then open its listing and choose Install if available. A phone app is not automatically a TV app: availability depends on the device and region.
Keep the streaming and media apps you actually use, and uninstall unused downloads. Check Google’s TV app instructions instead of relying on a universal app list.
Update the system and apps separately
On Google TV, check Settings > System > About > System update. For app updates, open Google Play Store and use your profile menu’s Manage apps & games > Updates > Update all. Android TV and manufacturer menus may differ.
If storage is low, remove unused apps and try clearing an app’s cache to remove temporary files. Clearing app data can reset the app and require you to sign in again. Check the changes
