PlayStation has announced a new accessory that will hit stores next February. It is a component that adds two extra buttons to the remote control at the bottom, something like what the Xbox One Elite Controller already introduced, but with a certain modern air.

Manufacturers are determined to add more buttons to controllers that are undermined from them, and although this idea seems crazy, the truth is that the demanding public asks for more control options with which to improve and reduce the response time in full game
For this, a solution is to include buttons in an area that has been dead until now in the gamepad, which is none other than the lower part of it. It is a place where the fingers rest, therefore, it is the perfect place to include buttons to press.
While Microsoft chose to include a series of easy-to-install mechanical levers, Sony has preferred to opt for a single larger piece that does everything.
On the one hand we will have two programmable buttons that look like they can be pressed quite well, something that however is more complicated (or requires more precision in the case of the Microsoft command), while in the center we will find a small monochrome OLED screen which will inform the function that the buttons are playing at that moment.

The buttons can perform the function of any of the 16 that exist in the control (except the PS button and the addresses of the analog sticks), and we can program up to three different profiles so that we have different configurations for different games.
In addition, since it uses the communications port of the remote and cancels the headphone port, I include an extra 3.5 mm port so that we can continue to connect our wired headphones.
How much does this rear button accessory cost for the Dualshock 4?
This new accessory will arrive in stores officially on February 14, and its price will be 29.99 euros, an amount that may seem somewhat high considering what the command already costs separately. We will see if Sony is encouraged to reduce the price a bit or if a new Dualshock 4 is launched with these integrated buttons.
