But in this case we want to focus on the package manager built into Windows itself , the so-called Winget. Here we find a powerful package manager that by default integrates the operating system and that we control through the command line. We tell you all this because this package manager that we mentioned has just received an important novelty.
Specifically, we can now state that the latest version of the Windows package manager, Winget , has support for portable applications. This is something that is still in the testing period, so it is being integrated into the preliminary versions of the operating system . We must bear in mind that the first version of this package manager was released in 2020. Likewise, the first definitive version was released in 2021. All this so that we can manage the software on Windows-based devices 10 and 11.

As we have mentioned, the great novelty of this preliminary version is the compatibility with portable applications. Therefore, this arrival changes the compatibility of the tool for the next stable version of the package manager.
Of course, at the same time we must bear in mind that the function is limited to the installation of portable programs , at least for the moment. That is, the functions to delete and update these titles through Winget have not yet arrived . Yes, they are planned and will be introduced in future versions of the tool.
