Design an Outline in PowerPoint and Export It as an Image

In the growing office automation sector , we find a multitude of programs that can be very useful to us. Among them we find those that are part of Microsoft‘s office suite, Office, where we see Word and Excel, among others. Now we will show you how to make an outline in PowerPoint, another of the most important applications in the suite.

While Word focuses on creating text documents, and Excel on working with numerical data, we use PowerPoint to design presentations. As a general rule, these are made up of a certain amount of slides that we use here to form part of the project. In fact, this is a valid program for companies, students and all kinds of users.

Design an Outline

That is why it could be said that PowerPoint this is one of the most important and popular programs that have been included in Office for years. How could it be otherwise, it is full of functions that are part of the application. With this, what we really or want to say is that in these slides that we design, there is a multitude of content that we can generate and add. Over time, these contents have been added to the functions of the program as such, so we do not have to limit ourselves to the text. Now we can use images, videos, shapes, graphics , etc.

How to create an outline in Microsoft PowerPoint

Thus, as we told you, here we can use a multitude of additional elements that enrich our presentation. But now we want to focus on a very specific one, the schemes. And you have to know that PowerPoint offers us the possibility of creating diagrams, for which it presents us with a multitude of elements. These will be very helpful when it comes to outlining ideas, summarizing projects or giving an overview of the global presentation, for example.

These schemes are commonly used both at the beginning and at the end of a multimedia presentation. Therefore, they can act as both an introductory element and a final summary of the design. Thus, we can affirm that this is one of the most interesting utilities of PowerPoint, since creating personal diagrams can help us to show content in a more visual way.

In addition, as we will see later, in addition to using this scheme that we have designed in the presentation, we can export it and save it as an image. These will in turn serve us to use image files in other programs such as Word or Excel. Therefore, to design the scheme we are talking about here, the first thing we do is open PowerPoint.

Access the PowerPoint Shapes section

At first what we do here is open a blank project to start with the design from scratch. In the case that concerns us in these lines, in the blank presentation we go to the Insert menu of the main window of the program. Once here, we opted for the option called Shapes, which opens a drop-down menu with all the options and shapes available by default.

Here we are going to find a good number of objects for these schemes that we are talking about. For example, in the basic shapes section we see objects in the form of an opening brace in order to associate content and create an outline in PowerPoint. As we mentioned, here we see many elements that will help us for this task we are talking about, creating an outline in PowerPoint. For example, the content key that we are talking about can be selected to open the scheme.

Add items to PowerPoint outline

But that’s not all, since here, in Forms , we also find a multitude of signs, arrows, etc. We can select all of this for our schematic project. Also, as we select objects and add them to the slide, we can resize and customize them. To give it an initial size, later we can modify it as we insert text and options.

How could it be otherwise, all the objects that we use here can be personalized. This way we will have the opportunity to modify aspects of the scheme such as the font used, colors, backgrounds , etc. For all this we only have to select the shape as such once added to the slide. Then, in the upper part of the window, we can see the formatting options of this specific object. Now we can modify its color, background, or outline, if it is allowed.

So we can use all the objects, shapes and texts that we want to design a personalized scheme that adapts to what we need.

Save a PowerPoint outline as an image

Well, to successfully achieve this that we tell you, as with the rest of the projects that we carry out in PowerPoint, we will have to be a little creative. The program as such offers us everything we need to achieve the goal , now it only remains for us to know how to take advantage of these functions . But now, once we have the scheme ready on the screen, as we mentioned before, we can save it as an image to use it elsewhere.

This will be stored as an image file that we can see or integrate in any other document, or in another presentation. Thus, to achieve that the PowerPoint outline that we have just created becomes a static image, it is something we do from the program itself. We just have to go to the File menu of the main interface, and select the Save as option.

However this time we are not going to save the presentation in the usual PPTX format of the Microsoft program. Here we are going to open the Type drop-down list, to choose some of the image formats presented here.
