If you are using Android Auto, you can prevent it from being filled with applications that are useless , either because you have installed them to try or that you have not used for a long time. Or you just realize that it doesn’t go like it used to and that you need to do something to make it go much better in your car.
The best way to make this service work better is to remove all the applications you don’t need and leave only the essential ones. There are some that you will consider more than necessary because you cannot do without them, but the more that disappear from Android Auto, the better this service will be for you.
The more apps there are, the slower the system is because they have to be preloaded, so if you don’t have them, it will go much better in your car. So we tell you what to do when you make the decision, although we anticipate that you will have to do it from your mobile.
What apps can you delete
There are applications that you will not be able to get rid of in any case, which are those of Settings, Exit, Google Maps and Phone. You can do without all the others. So assess which ones you really need and remove all the others. Later we will tell you how.
If you can have only those, much better, but if not, set your priorities between better service and the possibility of accessing certain apps. Remember that if you regret removing them you can put them back, so making this decision will not be a problem for you.
Except for the 4 apps mentioned above where the option does not appear, you can delete all the others if you wish. Just check that they have a box to activate or deactivate right next to it.
How to delete Android Auto apps
In order to delete the applications that you do not need, you will have to enter the Android Auto configuration on your mobile and follow these steps:
- Go to settings
- Click on Customize apps menu
- Scroll down to General
- A list of apps will appear
- Uncheck the ones you don’t want to use
- In the same menu you can reorder them in case it suits you better
- Reboot Android Auto
The apps that you remove will not disappear from your mobile , so you can recover them whenever you want. If you want to delete them and also free your smartphone, you will have to delete them. To do this you have to go directly to its settings and to the manage applications section. In those that you want to delete permanently, you will have to click delete. This will make them disappear from Android Auto as well.
How to recover apps in Android Auto
Unchecked apps will stay at the bottom of the list , so if you want to turn any or all of them back on, it’s much easier than you think. You just have to go back to the Android Auto configuration on your mobile and follow the same route.
- In Android Auto, select your settings
- Click on Customize apps menu
- Move to the General menu
- Look for the app in the list that appears (it will be under the marked ones, where it puts hidden applications)
- Do this with all the apps you are interested in recovering
- And that’s it, you can use them again in your car
If you have deleted any of the mobile , you will have to re-download and install the apps you want to recover in order to activate them in Android Auto. In any case, think carefully about this decision and assess whether it is worth having it again.
