There is no doubt that the mid-range of 5G smartphones is more accessible than ever, and this is demonstrated by mobiles like the ones we face today, Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G and Oppo Reno4 Z 5G that offer excellent features at very good prices, although logically each one with their strengths and perhaps a different audience.
5G mobiles are no longer synonymous with high-end, but increasingly move at more affordable prices for most users, in this case Xiaomi is the most accessible of the two, but the OPPO , although more expensive, it is not too expensive a 5G mobile.
Screen and dimensions
We are facing two phones that are quite similar in terms of size, because they both have a 6.57-inch screen with Full HD + resolution. In the case of the Xiaomi with a notch in the form of a drop of water and AMOLED technology, while in the OPPO with a double hole.
The latter also has a refresh rate of 120Hz , one of the highest in the current market, which is a good point in its favor. The dimensions of the Xiaomi are 163.7 x 74.8 x 7.9 mm and it weighs 192 grams, while the OPPO measures 163.8 x 75.5 x 8.1 mm and weighs less, 184 grams.
performance
In this section there are important different, but a common feature, 5G connectivity. Xiaomi is given the Snapdragon 765G processor , while the OPPO debuts a new MediaTek Dimensity 800 5G , which is more or less the equivalent of the Chinese manufacturer among mid-range processors with 5G connectivity.
A MediaTek that is slightly more powerful than Qualcomm’s, as we have seen in some performance tests. The units we look at today have in the case of Xiaomi with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. While the OPPO enjoys 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
Camera
Here we have two mobiles with very similar configurations, especially at the back. Since both have four sensors of 48 megapixels, 8 megapixels ultra wide angle, 2 megapixels macro and 2 megapixels deep.
Mi 10 Lite camera
The front is where there are differences, with an OPPO that has two cameras inside a pill-shaped hole . This has two 16 and 2 megapixel sensors. In the case of Xiaomi we have a 16 megapixel front camera.
Battery, connectivity and software
Another section, that of the battery, where the capacity is very similar, 4160mAh in the Xiaomi and 4000mAh in the OPPO . With fast charging of 20W and 18W respectively. Both have NFC for mobile payments, as well as Bluetooth 5.1 and USB Type-C connectivity.
Regarding the software, both have Android 10 , the first with MIUI and the second with ColorOS. An important detail, the Xiaomi has a fingerprint reader under the screen and the OPPO on the side, inside the power button.
Price and conclusion
We are facing two very similar mobiles in characteristics, although there are aspects that differentiate them in their favor, in the case of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G we have an AMOLED screen, on-screen fingerprint reader and a Snapdragon processor. While the OPPO Reno4 Z 5G has in its favor a hole in its 120Hz borderless screen, a front dual camera, 8GB of RAM and a new MediaTek 5G processor, which has nothing to envy from Qualcomm.
Although the OPPO is in reserve, its price is 399 euros , while the Xiaomi , in this version with 128GB we have it for around 50 euros less, about 350 euros . They are very similar mobiles, and either of them seems like an excellent choice, but the Xiaomi is tempting considering that AMOLED screen with an integrated reader and costing less money. However, with the OPPO we have 120Hz and we enjoy two whole years of updates, something that will no longer be the case in the Xiaomi, which has already been on the market for a few months.
