The mid-range of this year has not ceased to surprise us for good and much of the blame for having achieved this comes from Realme and Xiaomi. The two manufacturers that offer a fantastic value for money have once again done their thing to present models that have everything, among which we find the Realme 7 5G and the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite 5G that we compared on this occasion.
Whether you are interested in one or the other, you should not lose sight of your opponent, because knowing all the characteristics that we are going to find and of course their prices, you may change your mind. Although they are similar, there are also several changes that make them different and that will offer us better results in one section or the other. Different designs and screens
To begin we look at their designs, where the position of the cameras is obvious that it changes completely, Realme uses a model in an upright position and Xiaomi opts for a circle that integrates the lenses. The materials also change drastically, with plastic for the Realme 7 5G, before the glass and plastic frame of the Xiaomi Mi 10T. In both cases, the fingerprint reader is located on the side, along with the unlock button. If we are concerned about averages and weight, the Realme 7 is lighter with 195 grams and smaller, very slightly since it is only millimeters that change with the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite of 215 grams.
Their screens share Full HD + resolution and 20: 9 aspect ratio, as well as IPS LCD technology. The refresh rate of the displays is the same, with 120 Hz maximum and a touch response rate of 180 Hz for the Realme 7 and 240 Hz for the Mi 10T Lite. In both cases they have scratch resistance and Corning Gorilla Glass.
MediaTek vs Qualcomm
When it comes to focusing on the interior and the hardware of these models we come across very different processors, on the one hand the MediaTek Dimensity 800U from Realme that offers us a frequency of 2.4 GHz and on the part of Xiaomi with the well-known Snapdragon 750G with a 2.2 GHz frequency. The results will therefore be different, being slightly higher on the side of the cheaper Xiaomi Mi 10T, although this is not everything.
In the configuration, both offer an option of 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of memory , but the Mi 10T Lite adds a more than 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of memory to lower the option. In both cases, the technology is LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 memory, also adding the option of using an SD memory card.
Two photographic teams with a lot to say
As we can see in the photographic comparison of the YouTube channel, the results of both lenses are very on par, although there are moments where the improvements in the work that the Realme team has done on their cameras are noticed with a better result in the night and a wide angle of the Realme 7 5G. Xiaomi’s main lens has 64 Mpx which increases the resolution with respect to Realme’s 48 Mpx, but which on the tests show no changes. The second lens is the wide angle where they share 8 Mpx, the third lens for the 2 Mpx macro and a last lens for the portrait mode also 2 Mpx.
In the front we can see in the comparison that its 16 Mpx selfie lenses are traced , although the software process offers somewhat different results in which each one will have their options. Video recording reaches 4K resolution in both cases and here again the white balance and color treatment seem to be better on Realme.
Battery and connectivity
There is no doubt that we are facing two mobiles that have been thinking about everything and that is why 5G technology is shared in both models. There is no lack of dual SIM or GPS, without missing NFC or even the audio jack. Two terminals that have it all, or at least what we can ask for in the mid-range where they are located.
Xiaomi’s battery is not far behind, but without a doubt the Realme 7 will offer us greater autonomy thanks to the 5,000 mAh that it incorporates together with the 30W of power. On the other hand, the Mi 10T Lite conforms to 4820 mAh which with its 33W fast charge will also be a good option. Here it is also worth mentioning that the Realme 7 nanometer processor offers better optimization and therefore a little more battery.
Realme UI vs MIUI
Two very different customization layers designed for opposite cases. On the one hand, the Realme 7 software includes Android 10 with Realme UI but very soon it will jump to Android 11 and Realme UI 2.0, which will improve a layer that is quite light and fast, but also offers customization to our liking. On the part of Xiaomi we have the well-known MIUI 12 with infinite options, which are sometimes too many, with Android 10 but in the future Android 11 will arrive. Two layers that optimize the battery well and that will depend more on our taste than on anything else the chose.
Prices and purchase recommendation
We got to the price point, where we ran into a very different price on the 6GB RAM and 128GB memory version. The Realme 7 5G is exactly 229 euros and, on the contrary, the Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite is in the same version for 330 euros, a price that widely differentiates them and makes us a little clearer which one we should choose.
If we have to keep one of the two phones, the price has ended up convincing us to buy the Realme 7 before Xiaomi , adding to other reasons such as the comparison of cameras, the battery or the design that seems more attractive to us. In everything else they are very similar and that is why the price difference seems overwhelming.
