DNS is a fundamental part of being able to connect to the Internet in our day to day. As we know, we can use those of the operator, as well as other options available for both mobile phones and desktops. Some options may even have filters to improve security or have parental controls. In this article we echo the new CloudFlare DNS with filter to navigate more securely and thus avoid attacks.
New CloudFlare DNS with filter
CloudFlare is one of the most important companies globally in terms of network security services and content delivery. For example, it has services against DDoS attacks or firewalls for web applications. Now they have launched new DNS that we can use on our computers to avoid attacks, since they have a filter.

DNS serve as “translators,” so to speak. Basically what they do is read the information we write when opening a page, which would be the domain name, and look for the IP address that corresponds to that domain. In this way, instead of having to enter the IP address of that page, we simply have to write redeszone.net, for example.
We can use DNS that work faster or some options that can even filter the results and thus avoid security problems. That’s where the new CloudFlare DNS comes in . What it does is take advantage of that domain resolution process that we mentioned to avoid those that can be malicious and host dangerous content.

As we indicated at the beginning of the article, CloudFlare is a very important company in terms of network security. This allows them to have a large amount of information related to malicious activity on the Internet and can thus track sites that are a threat.
CloudFlare’s primary DNS is 1.1.1.1. They will work fast but they don’t use any kind of filter. Instead we can use two alternatives that have been launched to protect us from malware and also act as parental control. These are the two options:
Block malware:
- Primary DNS: 1.1.1.2
- Secondary DNS: 1.0.0.2
Block malware and adult content:
- Primary DNS: 1.1.1.3
- Secondary DNS: 1.0.0.3
Home networks and small businesses
These CloudFlare DNSs are specially designed for use in home networks , but could also be used for small businesses. The objective, as we have seen, is to filter the content that reaches us and thus prevent the entry of malware or adult content, so it could serve as parental control.
We simply have to change the DNS addresses that we have configured on our computers and put the options that we have indicated above. In this way we will achieve that filter that can protect us.
No need to install any additional tools. We are only going to have to change the DNS of our network, either wireless or cable, and from that moment the filtering will begin. If we enter a page that is classified as dangerous, that could contain malware, once the request is received, that domain does not resolve.
