Beyond the content that we follow or the tweets that we see, we can change the language on Twitter through the web or the application to be able to use the different menus understanding what it says well or simply because someone has used it before you and is in another language. In that case, we can go to the configuration and we will tell you step by step what the options are to modify this section without any difficulty.
We can change it as many times as you want and we can choose between dozens of different languages that are compatible with Jack Dorsey’s social network but, as we say, it will have nothing to do with the language in which you see the tweets because they will be displayed in the language original from the person who wrote them.
Change the language on Twitter
We can change the language in which the different menus and settings appear, but please note that this will not have any effect on the language in which our tweets are written or those of the people we follow. You will be able to write tweets in the language you want without changing this in settings. Or we can follow users from anywhere in the world regardless of the language you have selected in the settings of the website.
From the website
Changing the language of Twitter will only take a few seconds from our account or profile on the social network. We just have to log in and go to the configuration to choose between all the available languages (you can consult all of them in a list a few paragraphs below) among which we can choose depending on what we are best at or what we want to see.
- Open Twitter
- Sign in with your username and password
- Go to Home on your profile web page
- Go to the menu on the left of the website
- Choose the last option: tap on the three points of “more options”
- A dropdown menu will open with options
- Choose “Settings and privacy” from the menu and click
- We will see a series of sections:

- Choose and click on “Accessibility, screen and languages”
- Several options will appear:

- Languages
- data usage
- Choose, of course, “ languages ”
Here we will see several options on which to choose or click. The first is the one that allows us to change the display language or the language of Twitter . That is, all the menus or buttons will appear in the language you choose here. You can change it back whenever you want or need.
Tap on “ Display language ” and open the dropdown. Once you have chosen the one that interests you, you must confirm with “Save”. You will see that the page automatically reloads and all the menus appear in another language, as you can see in the screenshot below.
Go back to the previous section if you want to modify other additional languages that we will explain in the next paragraphs and that will allow you to see more content in languages that may be interesting, for example.
From the app
From the application we cannot change the language of Twitter only in the social network. In other words, the language in which the microblogging app configuration is displayed will depend on the general or total configuration of your mobile. If your phone is in Spanish, Twitter will be displayed in Spanish. If your smartphone defaults to French, the social network will be in French.
They explain it from the Twitter help page: “The display language setting of your Twitter account can only be changed on twitter.com. To change the display language in the Twitter for iOS or Twitter for Android apps, go to your device’s Settings feature.
What languages are on Twitter
As we see from the configuration of the social network, we can change the main language or the language in which you will see the different settings and menus. But there are also other language options and settings: display languages, additional languages, or languages you may know. These can also be changed by following the steps above, as a complement.
display language
The display language of Twitter is the language in which we are going to see the content in the application or the web page and those that are available are:

Also, Twitter has all these previous languages that we can mark as additional languages if we want content to appear. As indicated by the social network itself, “you will be able to see tweets, people and trends in any of the languages you choose” and we will be able to mark some of the most common options such as Catalan, Spanish, English…
But you can also touch “show more” to select any other from the list that may be interesting to you. We can check as many as we want before confirming with “done” to save.
Languages you may know
From here we can select languages that you may be interested in and serve to personalize your experience. You cannot choose them manually , but we can remove or unmark the ones that we already have marked. You will see at the top what is the main configuration language in your account (in our case, as you see in the screenshot, Spanish) and below we will see other additional languages that can be used to personalize the experience.
These cannot be chosen but we can uncheck them if we believe that they do not correspond to what we really know or are interested in.
