Huawei presented the new Huawei P40 range accompanied by EMUI 10.1 , the new revision of the Chinese company’s operating system. Among its many new features, the brand introduced ” Celia “, its own voice assistant that arrives to compete with Siri and, above all, with Google Assistant on mobiles that cannot use Google services.
And, because of the ban imposed by the United States government on Huawei, the firm’s smartphone division had to immediately reformulate its strategy so as not to be left behind. Hence the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) along with AppGallery arose to fill the gap left by Google Mobiles Services (GMS) and Play Store. Following them, Celia emerges, a voice assistant who in turn is based on Xiaoyi, the brand’s virtual assistant in China.
Although it was announced with the new version of EMUI , in a first launch the assistant was not prepared to help us in our day to day but now the local assistant of the company is finally available, although at the moment it is limited to certain regions.
Celia reaches the P40
If you are one of the (at the moment, few) buyers of a Huawei P40, P40 Pro or P40 Pro Plus, you can use Celia in Spain. Right now this wizard can understand Spanish, English and French, and since Celia is intended to replace Google Assitant, its user interface is similar to the latter. In addition, it is also compatible with HiVision AI and AI touch-shopping lenses.
How to activate Celia
Celia arrives at the Huawei P40 in the form of an update, so the first thing we must do is download and install the new software on any of the aforementioned phones. Once we have done it, Celia will be integrated into our device and to “wake it up” we will only have to press and hold the start button or resort to saying Hey Celia to start the configuration of the assistant and voice recognition as we can do with Siri , Google Assistant or Samsung‘s own Bixby that we can also turn on through our own button on some models.
There are other alternatives to start the Huawei voice assistant on their mobiles, such as double-clicking the phone’s start button or activating it from the Huawei Assistant page itself recently developed by the firm.
