When our mobile phone is updated to EMUI 10 two we want to try the dark mode, its gestures or its other novelties. After time you may want to change the appearance of your desktop from the themes app and, it will be then, when you discover if your mobile is affected by the problem of icons that cannot change shape or style.
While most system apps change, the rest of the icons look totally different from what the Huawei theme app images promise. For example, if you see that Chrome shows a rounded icon, in many cases it will be applied to you with a very unsightly white box. There’s a solution?
Apply a new Huawei theme
First of all it is worth noting that the failure does not reproduce in all models equally and it depends on the mobile that you can alter the appearance of the icons or not. To see if you can change the aesthetics of the apps normally, simply open the theme app, select any of the free ones that you will find in its catalog, scroll to the right and download and install the one that you like the most.
At this point, going to the home screen you will see if the icons look and as seen in the example images or, most likely, many of them are quite horrible compared to what was promised. If so, we will try to alter them manually without leaving the themes app.
Customize the icons
In the lower menu select the “I” section where all the content downloaded to your mobile with which you can customize the smartphone appear. From among all the options that appear on the screen, select icons and locate the ones you want to fix on the phone, choosing from the preset ones or those you have previously downloaded.
This should end the icon issue in EMUI 10 themes but sadly you are still probably not seeing them correctly. If so, we offer you the following two solutions.
Problems with the Google app
In the XDA Developers forums it is where more users complain about the problem on their Chinese brand mobiles and their inability to adapt shortcuts to topics downloaded from the Huawei app . Some of those affected have found a curious trick that seems to solve this failure, although not all users have served as a solution.
Apparently, this problem in some Huawei mobiles is related to the Google App, which, why, prevents the icons from changing in appearance. For this reason some recommend deleting all the data in the app to “reset it”, being able to return the icons to the desired appearance. To do this, open the mobile settings or go to Applications> Google application> Storage> Manage space> Delete all data
Use an external app
If you still do not find the solution, we have been able to change the icons on Huawei mobiles using some external apps so easy to use that with two clicks they allow us to change the appearance of our mobile. As an example we have EMUI Themes Factory for Huawei or Theme Editor For EMUI .
Both applications are quite similar and allow you to create a theme from scratch. It is not our objective but if we scroll through the tabs at the top we will see that we can find a list of icons that will be applied on our Huawei mobile. In addition, they will be stored in the memory of our phone and will also be accessible from the corresponding Huawei themes app .
