The number that serves to identify our mobile is the IMEI, which is basically your unique and unique ID. This does not serve to recognize it wherever it is and that we know for sure that it is our smartphone with the different methods that exist to recognize it. However, it may be the case that we want to modify the phone’s IMEI for a specific reason.
At that moment, the question arises as to whether or not we can change the identification number of the mobile phone, something that does not have a simple answer. There are several fringes to take into account in the process and later with the smartphone to which we have decided to change the IMEI, making the phone stop being the same forever.
It is possible, although it is not an easy task
There is the possibility of changing the IMEI, the first thing we should know, however, is not something that we recommend to anyone. This change entails several previous steps, among which is rooting the phone, in order to modify the number that accredits the devices and that we will not be able to obtain in any other way. However, in Europe it is not a legal process and we will be skipping the rules with the corresponding consequences that we will learn about later.
In addition, to achieve our purpose we have to use computer programs that offer us this IMEI change. These are not available to anyone on a web page and it takes a lot of trial and error until you find the one that ends up working. To complete the process we will also have to use apps specially designed for it and get both the computer and the mobile itself to complete the changes.
A process that, as we already anticipated, is not easy at all and can cause the terminal to turn into a brick along the way if we do not follow the appropriate steps.
Change has its consequences.
Once everything we need to do so that the IMEI of the mobile is no longer the same , we will have to face a series of situations that we may not like. Among them is that there will be no way to resort to the guarantee on the smartphone itself, since it will not correspond to any of the manufacturer in its database and, in addition, the terminal will be rooted, so we will lose all our rights.
Another point to keep in mind is that, by modifying this number, the bill that we have at home will no longer be valid and even the mobile box where the IMEI appears will not mean anything. This causes that, if in any case our smartphone disappears, whether we have lost it or if it has been stolen, there will be no way to locate it or prove that it is ours.
The series of digits that make up the IMEI are the ones used by operators to block a phone and if we have changed it, there will be no option to prevent someone from continuing to use it at our expense.
