How to Call with a Hidden Number from the Landline or Mobile Phone

Calling with a hidden number or a private number is something that can be done for years, from the classic landlines that many children will never have seen at home. It can be done from the mobile or landline, for occasional calls or continuously if you want to call and call the same person or several. If you do not know how to do it, we review the procedure for all cases: from fixed to fixed, from fixed to mobile, from mobile to mobile …

Although we all know that it is possible, we always turn to the Internet to find the prefix that we have to dial in case it has changed or in case we do not remember it well. You can call the same person with a hidden number whenever you want , call everyone or for a specific call in a timely manner. Be that as it may, there are methods to do it. Keep in mind that the abusive use of these private numbers can have consequences: although the other person does not know who you are, they will be able to find out through a court order in case of harassment or spam , as we will explain later.

call with hidden number

Call only once

You can call with a hidden or private number only once, for a specific call. Both if you do it from the mobile phone or if you do it from the landline phone, just dial a code before the number you want to call. In the case of calling from your mobile, you will have to know the phone or copy it from the phonebook. From the landline, just enter the code before calling the number you want.

From fixed to fixed

In Spain, if you want to call with a hidden number from landline to landline , you have to call # 31 # before the number in question as long as it is a landline. Keep in mind that this code will be used to call landlines from the landline. That is, it would be # 31 # 999888777 and the interlocutor will not appear that it is you. If you want to call back, you will have to follow the same procedure again. If you always want to call with a private number, you can store it correctly in the phonebook.

From mobile to mobile

The same procedure you have to follow if you want to call another mobile from your mobile. If you want to do it only once, dial the prefix # 31 # before the number you want to dial. If you only want to call a person with a hidden number, the solution is to save it to the phonebook with the prefix already entered and so whenever you do so, you will call it with a private number without having to enter the phone number.

From fixed to mobile

If you want to call a mobile phone number from your landline, the code # 31 # will not serve you as in the previous occasions. In this case, it changes. The number you must dial to call with a hidden code from your landline to your mobile phone is 067 . As in the previous case, simply dial 067 accompanied by the mobile phone number with which you need to contact. As in the previous procedure, it would remain as 067666777888.

Always call with hidden

One of the advantages of mobile phones is that you can configure them to call with a hidden or private number whenever you make a call. Your phone number will only start showing up when you set it up again or when you delete the phonebook prefix.

From the landline phone

If you want to call a specific contact in the phonebook from the landline with a private number, all you have to do is store it in the phonebook with the number # 31 # in front of you and you will not have to use the prefix on each call. If you have a cordless or wired telephone and it has memory and a calendar, you can keep it that way and you will always call that person with a hidden or private number.

From Android

You can configure your Android mobile phone to always call with a hidden number . If you want to do it globally and not just in a one-time call, you can do it from the settings of your smartphone whenever you want. The route may vary from one model to another depending on the customization layer or the version of Android you have. But generally, the steps you need to take are similar.

  • Go to the Phone or calls application on your mobile
  • Search for settings or call options
  • In case you have two cards, choose the one you want or are using
  • Go to “More …” or “More settings”
  • Choose the “Issuer ID” option to hide or not the number
  • You will see three options, usually:
    • Network default
    • Hide number
    • Show number
  • Choose “Hide number” and confirm the option

Once you have done this, the number will always appear hidden when you call and the other person will not know that it was you. When you want this to stop happening, all you have to do is follow the same steps as before and choose the “Show number” option so that the phone number will come out again when you call.

Does it appear on the invoice?

If you call with a hidden number, it will appear on the bill that you have called a certain phone on a specific day and at an hour. But it won’t come out if you’re the one receiving the call. In general, and in almost all cases, the calls received are not detailed on the bill, so you will not be able to see who called you.

There may be exceptional cases, with legal proceedings involved, that cause operators or companies to show these calls. In general, no operator details calls received unless requested by the court for cases of scam, harassment or any other area.

May I know who is calling?

No. Generally, you will not be able to know who is calling. If they call you with a hidden or private number, you will not know who the person on the other side is unless you go off-hook. Many applications promise to find out, but they do not really identify you private numbers, but unknown numbers that you do not have on the agenda, such as insurance companies, operators, etc. If someone calls you in a private way with a private number, you will have a difficult time knowing who it is. Unless you go off-hook and ask. Or if it is ongoing harassment, you will be able to find out if you report it and a judicial procedure requests it.
