The manufacturers of multimedia equipment have had the objective, during the last years, to put the cinema in our living room. And now, it seems, they want to do the same, but in our cars.
Or at least, that is the intention of BMW and Amazon.
An 8K TV in your BMW, for the enjoyment of passengers
At CES we see all kinds of technology. From the one that wants to become a bestseller, to demonstrations of the technological capacity of a firm, through curiosities whose usefulness on a day-to-day basis leaves us scratching our heads.
Nobody can predict the future, but for now, the idea of BMW and Amazon seems to be in the latter category.
Basically, it is about introducing a huge 8K TV so that passengers in the back seats can enjoy the cinema during car journeys. Or at least, enjoy until the gigantic blind spots and the uselessness of the rear view mirror continue to allow accident-free driving.
Yes, we already know that, today, the cameras can alleviate the lack of a rearview mirror (when they work), so BMW has presented its Theater Screen , a smart television of no less than 31 inches, 8K resolution and aspect ratio 32: 9, perfect for streaming and gaming.
In this alliance we also have Amazon that, knowing that its Fire TV has stiff competition in the living room, tries to advance to the right when it comes to putting them in our cars, with Alexa included , of course.

Amazon and its Fire TVs in cars
The truth is that the device is frankly curious, and we will see if it is approved to be able to drive with it in Europe and Spain, since the rules are usually very different than in the United States, for example.
Anyway, this is not new. Amazon is installing Fire TVs in Stellantis’ new SUV and minivan models, the Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, Grand Cherokee and Chrysler Pacifica. And that for now, because it plans to extend further.
