First, a little context

Original AirPods with charging case are the most basic wireless experience Apple has to offer. Although they look the same as high-end AirPods 2 with a wireless charging case, they are very different inside: they are equipped with an older chipset that offers two hours of talk time (one hour less than AirPods 2) and does not are compatible with Siri.

Also, the included charging case is not wireless like that of the AirPods 2. This means its power reserve is replenished via a basic Lightning cable – there is no option to leave it on a Qi- compatible charging cradle.
