Until further notice, EMUI 10 is the newest and most advanced layer of Huawei mobiles. Based on Android 10 and increasingly present in the Chinese company’s mobiles, EMUI 10 has a large number of options, such as the so-called Always On Display . Always On Display, also known as AOD, was already available in the previous version of EMUI. However, it was a rougher version with fewer options. With the arrival of EMUI 10, this feature has included a gradient color scheme to the time and date text , as well as Clock Style and Clock Widgets. This mode is designed so that Huawei phones with EMUI 10 can save more battery, regardless of the tools available.
What is Always On Display for?
AOD is a function that allows information to be displayed on the mobile phone even if the screen is locked. It is a mode of low energy consumption in which we can always have controlled information such as time, notifications or the status of the battery, without the need to turn on the device, with the consequent energy expenditure that this implies.
Where it works
AOD works on a large majority of terminals, not all are equally valid to execute this function. It is the Huawei phones with OLED screen that are compatible with the function. This is mainly due to the reduction in energy consumption, something that does not occur with the same efficiency in LCD panels. That is, from this list the entire mid-range of the firm, which has cheaper LCD panels, is discarded. Currently the mobiles compatible with this mode with OLED screen are the following:

How active
To activate the Always On Display function in EMUI 10, we go to the Settings / Home Screen and Wallpaper menu . Then we activate the AOD option and configure the start and end times according to our preferences, or we can even leave it permanently. Then it will only be necessary to click on the style of watch, to choose the one that we like the most.
