Adobe recently introduced its Artificial Intelligence (AI) image generation platform called Firefly, which has now been integrated into Photoshop. This integration allows users to edit images in a simpler and faster manner by selecting objects and using text commands, similar to how we use other image generation platforms.
While Firefly is currently in beta, all Adobe Creative Cloud users with a Photoshop subscription can download the new version and access the Generative Fill function. This function enables users to describe the object or pattern they want to incorporate into their image, and the application takes care of the rest.
Generative Fill is also available as a module within the Adobe Firefly beta. It seamlessly combines Adobe’s image generation AI, Firefly, with Photoshop, allowing users to quickly generate content and integrate it naturally into their working image.
The integration of Firefly with Photoshop is designed to be user-friendly and intuitive, making it accessible to users without extensive knowledge of Photoshop. When working with an image that includes an animal against a background that needs improvement, the process is straightforward. By selecting the object and utilizing the Generative Fill function, users can easily request the AI to replace the background with a more suitable one. This can be achieved through the contextual menu, which conveniently appears next to the selected object, introducing one of the latest updates to Photoshop.
The image showcased above demonstrates the powerful capabilities of Photoshop’s integration with AI for image generation. In this example, we observe the image’s height extended by incorporating almond blossoms, the addition of multiple soap bubbles, and the inclusion of a puddle in front of the dog. Additionally, a vehicle has been seamlessly integrated into the scene, aligning perfectly with the road.
In addition to the aforementioned capabilities, Photoshop’s AI can also be utilized to remove or replace objects within an image, offering a natural and non-destructive approach.
Firefly, integrated with Photoshop, leverages the extensive Adobe Stock library to seamlessly incorporate new content into images based on the prompts we provide. This integration eliminates the need to individually browse through the vast collection of multimedia content, saving valuable time in the process. It is worth noting that, as of now, this integration is in its beta phase and supports prompts in English only. However, this limitation will no longer persist once the final version of Photoshop with integrated Firefly AI is released.
With Photoshop’s AI functionalities, users can effortlessly remove unwanted objects from an image or replace them with other elements. Moreover, the ability to naturally add objects to an image is achieved in a non-destructive manner, ensuring a seamless and realistic result.
