With the arrival of all-screen mobiles, the frames have disappeared and with them the popular notification LED that has been with us for so long on our devices. Its usefulness is none other than to know when we had a notification to read and this has been replaced by Always On Display screens on mobiles with AMOLED technology. Still there are still possibilities to add this desired LED.
Before starting we want to remember that mobiles with AMOLED screens will be able to make use of this notification LED without hardly noticing it in its autonomy. By contrast, users of a mobile phone with an LCD screen could lose up to 20% of the battery since the entire screen will not remain off, but will show a dark tone imitating the screen off.
Add the notification LED to our mobile in 3 steps
First of all what we must do is download the Notify Buddy application on our mobile. This app was originally developed for the OnePlus 6T and published on XDA Developers, but the success led to it being published on the Google Play store. Once installed on our mobile we can start with the next step and it can be more controversial.
Grants all permissions and disables the Always On screen
The permissions in this application are very relevant since without them you will not be able to access our screen, much less when it is turned off. When accessing the application for the first time, it will show us in a simple way the method to obtain the necessary permissions , the first one to recognize the alerts we receive and the second to show this LED on other apps.
On mobiles that have the Always On screen activated we will have to deactivate it or else we could generate a failure and neither option would work. To deactivate it, we find the option in Settings> Display or Personalization, which may vary according to the brand and model.
Configure the notification LED as you wish
To finish adding the LED notifications to our mobile we must configure it choosing which apps we want to make use of this option. Then we will go to the last tab, from where we can configure various aspects of the LED among which we find the position in which it is located.
We can also change the color of the LED for any of the chromatic range or modify the flashing time and duration. As it is a false LED, we have several customization options at our fingertips.
