Activate on Windows 10X Keyboard on a Windows 10 Insider

Windows 10X is Microsoft‘s new operating system that has been in development for some time. This operating system uses Windows 10 Core as a base, and changes a large number of features compared to the original version. However, it will only be available for a limited number of ARM devices , and neither this OS, nor many of its features, we will be able to have them on PC. However, there are always ways around these restrictions, as has happened with the new touch keyboard that comes standard with this new operating system.

Having the latest version of Windows 10 does not guarantee that we can enjoy all the improvements and features that Microsoft has prepared for this operating system. For example, there are functions that, due to their instability, or because they are experiments, are disabled for all users. And there are also other functions that use an A / B system whereby they only reach a limited group of users, while not another. And the new Windows 10X keyboard is one such feature.

Luckily, with a few simple steps it is possible to enable it so that we can test it before anyone else.

Requirements

For now, until the new operating system is ready, in order to activate this new keyboard we need, first of all, to be Windows 10 Insider users, specifically from the most unstable channel of all: Dev. Also, we have to install the latest Insider build of the operating system, build 20185 of 21H1.

Since this feature is disabled in Windows, we have to activate it in order to use it. And, for this, it is necessary to download the latest version of the “ViVe” tool , which we can find at this link .

Windows 10X keyboard features

The new Windows 10X keyboard is an updated and improved version of the keyboard that is currently included in the Windows 10 tablet mode. Among many other functions and improvements we can highlight an improved interface in which we can find both GIFs and Emojis directly in two panels included in it without the need to expand any other section.

We can also find other interesting elements, such as a search box and a new layout of the keys to make it easier to write, especially with your hands.

How to activate it

Once we have installed build 20185, and downloaded the ViVeTool tool, the next step will be to unzip this tool, and open a PowerShell window, with Administrator permissions, located within its own directory.

Next, we run the following command to enable this experimental feature:

vivetool.exe addconfig 20438551 2

Habilitar teclado experimental W10X

Once this command is enabled, the next step will be to restart the computer. When it starts up again we can see that this new feature is already enabled on our PC. To use it, we will simply have to activate the Windows 10 Tablet Mode and remove the keyboard.

As we can see, a much more useful keyboard than what was available until now in this operating system. We hope that, when it’s ready, it won’t stay a Windows 10X exclusive feature . Hopefully Microsoft reconsiders and brings it to normal Windows 10, even if it is for users who use tablet mode.
