Microsoft wanted to share more details of its Xbox Series X today , so, after seeing the full list of features, we have also been able to find out a series of new functions and details that have caught our attention. We will list them below so you can get to know them.
The motherboard is divided into two parts
The hardware design of the console is quite special. The main board of the console is divided into two elements, in order to achieve a perfect dissipation with the help of a central piece that joins both modules. One of the modules is the main one, with the processor that brings together CPU and GPU on the same chip, while the second board controls the connection ports. At the top is a large fan that will create a top-to-bottom airflow that will keep everything at the correct temperature.
It is tremendously fast
It has been communicated in a thousand ways. The new Xbox Series X will be much faster than the current console, but there’s nothing like a live demo to see exactly what we’re talking about. And that is exactly what Microsoft has done, which has brought both consoles face to face to demonstrate how fast the new Xbox Series X will load the games. Has it been made clear to you?
There is a secret inside
Microsoft is used to keeping certain winks or Easter eggs inside its consoles. That is just what they did with Xbox One X, and it is the same as they have done with Xbox Series X, since in the first contact made by Digital Foundry , the fan in charge of the console cooling hides in one from its sides the silhouette of the master chief’s helmet.
Memory cards return
A few generations ago, consoles used memory cards to save games, keep them safe and be able to share them with friends. But the cloud came and with it these accessories disappeared. But now Microsoft has recovered the concept in a certain way. And it is that the memories that will be sold for Xbox Series X are reminiscent of those old cards, although in reality they have little to do.
These are small NVME SSDs that offer 1TB capacities to store games. They will serve to expand the internal memory of the console (which is 1 TB) without losing an iota of performance, since these cartridges offer amazing read and write times.
You will be able to continue using USB disks to save your games, but if you want the games to load as fast as with the internal memory of the console, you will have to buy these accessories. Of course, do not expect a cheap price, since these memories are usually expensive.
We will be able to play several games at the same time
The title of this section is not extremely accurate, but you will understand it. The new interface and the technology of the console will allow us to leave several games at rest at the same time to be able to go from one to another in a matter of seconds. This will serve to go from one game to another and continue the game just where you left off, something that until now was not possible, because the game closed when you started another.
Although Microsoft has not gone into details of how many games we can keep running, in the demo video you can see how they open a total of 6 different games at the same time.
It doesn’t have a green LED, it’s just plastic
When Microsoft first introduced the console, the welcome video showed the first details of its design and left an image that caught everyone’s attention. It was the upper part of the console, an opening that seemed to show a green xbox light, however, as we have learned from the Digital Foundry touchdown, it is actually a simple decoration.
The console simply includes a green plastic to simulate the effect of internal light, something that could be a wise decision, since having a permanent light could distract the player in dark or poorly lit areas. As you can see in the screenshot, the plastic piece will be hidden inside just to add a touch of color.
The coveted share button
With the console will also come a new control knob. This new controller offers slight aesthetic changes compared to its predecessor, such as the new digital crosshead or textured triggers, but if there is something that has particularly caught our attention it is the share button.
This button will allow us to upload screenshots and videos directly to the cloud or to social networks without the need for complicated combinations, as we currently have to do on Xbox One.
