This 2022 has been the turn of the Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 7, a bracelet that has many improvements compared to its predecessor, the Mi Band 6 model, but that you probably won’t see with the naked eye.

Larger, brighter screen with ‘Always-on Display’
Let’s start with the screen. Although the design of the Mi Smart Band 7 does not seem to have undergone many changes, the display has improved compared to last year’s version. The panel still has AMOLED technology, but increases from 1.56 to 1.62 inches . The resolution has also increased, but it’s still the same 326 pixels per inch. Brightness has also been increased from 450 nits to 500 nits.
However, the biggest update that we have in this model is the compatibility with ‘Always-on Display’ , which will allow us to always show the data on the screen as in a digital clock of a lifetime. In addition, there are more than 100 spheres to customize the background of our device, about 40 more than in the Mi Smart Band 6.
More precise sensors, more sports and Xiaomi assistant
Both generations maintain the same number of heart rate sensors and blood oxygen measurement (SpO2), but in the case of the Mi Smart Band 7, these sensors are improved . In addition, the new model will send us a vibration alert when our oxygen levels drop below 90.
Regarding the detection of sports, the previous model had support for 30 different activities, and we could pay a little more to get the Smart Band Pro model, which supported up to 110. On this occasion, the Mi Smart Band 7 has the capacity of monitor up to 120 different sports . And the bracelet will be powered by XiaoAI , a Xiaomi virtual assistant that will help us get in shape.
More battery (but same launch price)
The autonomy of the Smart Band 7 has also improved compared to the previous model. The newly presented model has 180 mAh compared to the 125 mAh of the Mi Smart Band 6. We will be able to use it for 15 days normally and up to 9 days if we use it intensively, which means that it will last us a day more of use in each case.
Regarding other changes, the Mi Smart Band 7 has Bluetooth 5.2 , so it should offer better connectivity with modern devices compared to the previous model. At the software level, it will continue to be compatible with the same systems, but it will be necessary to have a smartphone with Android 6.0 or higher – until now it was possible to use Xiaomi bracelets with Android 5 terminals. As for the iPhone, the minimum requirement will remain iOS 10.
Regarding the price, it will continue to cost exactly the same, about 45 euros to change . Until now, the Mi Smart Band 7 is only available in China, but it will arrive in Europe for sure in a few weeks.
