The market research firm Omdia has published new data that we like so much and that allow us to encourage competition between brands. This new report allows us to know which are the best-selling mobiles globally of all that we have this year. Will it be an iPhone or will it be an Android device?
Since we are talking about an international and non-state market, as expected, the number one model is none other than the iPhone 11. The brand’s latest cheap mobile inherits the good sales performance of the iPhone XR of 2018 and is ranks as the best-selling smartphone of the first half of 2020.
Apple reportedly sold a whopping 37.7 million iPhone 11 units, an increase from the previous year when the iPhone XR took first place with 26.9 million units. And all this in a year where the pandemic has devastated the sales of many manufacturers.
Both the iPhone Xr and the iPhone 11 have managed to dominate sales in 2019 and 2018 respectively, showing how much they like the iPhone globally and that users continue to bet on the Cupertino firm.
Samsung and Xiaomi, in the Top 10
Samsung ranks second in both 2019 and 2020 and it does. not with top of the range, but with two mid-range mobiles that have surprised locals and strangers. If in 2019 the smartphone of the firm that took the cat to the water with 13.4 million units was the Samsung Galaxy A10, this time the number 2 is the Galaxy A51 with 11.4 million units sold in the first half 2020.
In third and fourth place we have two Xiaomi models, the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro that have sold 11 and 10.2 million units respectively in the first months of 2020. The cheap Redmi 8A and Redmi 8 also sneak into this ranking with a total of 7.3 and 6.8 million units sold.
Returning to the Cupertino company, we can see how the iPhone 11 is not the only Apple phone that sneaks into the Top 10 best-selling mobiles of the year . The 2020 iPhone SE boasts a fifth with 8.7 million units, an excellent figure if we consider that it is the one with the least commercial journey. Interestingly, the iPhone XR remained one of the best-selling smartphones in 2020, with 8 million units, while the iPhone 11 Pro Max occupies the sixth place with 7.7 million units. Finally, the iPhone 11 Pro closes the list. ranking with total sales of 6.7 million units.
