Beyond the Windows 10 that we all know, Microsoft also has other versions of its operating system specially designed to work on certain devices. One of them is Windows Server, the edition of the operating system designed to run on all types of servers (personal, business, etc.) so that you can make the most of this type of equipment. With a view to the future, Microsoft has just published at its ” Ignite 2021 ” event what the new Windows Server 2022 will be , a version that comes with important improvements and that Insider users can test right now.
The new Windows Server 2022 is going to be an operating system that will have extended support, Long-Term Servicing Channel, or LTSC . These versions stand out for having 10 years of support . The first 5 years have standard maintenance, while the next 5 are extended, just for safety.

Although not much is known yet about all the news that this new version of the operating system will bring, Microsoft already allows us to get an idea about its main focus. And not only that, but if we are Insider users right now we will be able to test the first Preview version of it.
What’s new in Windows Server 2022: it’s all about security
Microsoft has informed users who often follow the development of this server operating system that, the first thing that the new Server 2022 will have, will be all the news that has been included in the operating system with its semi-annual updates. Like the desktop version, this system receives changes every 6 months, so all these changes will form the basis of this new version.
In addition to that, we will be able to find a large number of new security options. The first two that stand out the most are, on the one hand, support for AES-256 encryption through the SMB protocol, and support for TLS 1.3 connections.
Secured-Core will be another of the most important news, also related to security, that we will find. This feature protects devices against all kinds of security flaws in firmware and drivers, and provides machines with a secure kernel with:
- Hardware protection through trust lists.
- Defense against firmware attacks.
- Defense against malicious or vulnerable drivers.
- Protection against the execution of unsigned code.
- Security against physical access and data attacks.
- Protection of identities and the most confidential data against external threats.
In addition, the new Windows Server 2022 will bring Edge Chromium , Microsoft’s new browser, installed as standard, leaving aside the classic version of it.
Download and availability
Windows Server Insider users are in luck. From now on, you will be able to download the new version of the server operating system for free from this link . Of course, it is strongly recommended to exclusively use this version for testing, never on a real server, since it is still in a very early phase of its development.
Microsoft has assured that this new Windows Server will arrive in its stable version at the end of this year. However, until then, we can only wait, or download the Insider version.
