In all previous versions of Windows it was always designed in the lower left part, now it has moved to the center, it has eliminated the “tiles” that appeared with Windows 8 and they have opted for a more minimalist design that is not to the liking of all users . For them, there is the possibility of returning to the classic menu and today we will see how.

In order to update the user interface in Windows 11, Microsoft has tried to create a more attractive, refreshing and minimalist interface that improves our user experience, along with other features to improve system performance.

What’s new in the Windows 11 Start menu

One of the most notable design changes in Windows 11 is found in the Start menu that looks different from what we could find in Windows 10. Now, it is located in the center of the taskbar instead of the left as it came happening so far.

Additionally, the new Start menu has two sections: the top section is for pinned apps, and the bottom section contains recommended apps. All the others can also be accessed via the “All Apps” button, while the power button for restarting and shutting down the PC is still used in the classic way and is located at the bottom right.

Move Start menu to the left

If we want to recover the classic Windows 10 menu in Windows, the only possibility offered by the Microsoft operating system is to change the position of the taskbar and the Start menu from the center to the left.

To do this, we must right-click on the taskbar and then click on “Taskbar settings” . This will open the “Settings” section of Windows.

Then we go to the bottom and click on the “Taskbar Behavior” section, which will be displayed, showing us the available options. Here, under “Taskbar Alignment” , we select left. In this way we will recover the classic distribution that we had in Windows 10.

Switch to classic menu

Although Microsoft has eliminated this possibility, it is still possible to continue using the classic Windows start menu in Windows 11 without problems. To do this, it will be necessary to resort to third-party programs , as we will see below.

Once finished, we open its Settings menu, from which it will allow us to choose between three styles for the Start menu:

  • Basic style : similar to what we could find in the mythical Windows XP.
  • Classic with two columns : same as above, but adding a column with shortcuts.
  • Windows 7 Style – Brings back the classic Windows 7 menu.

In any of them we can click on Select the skin, which will take us to the Skin tab. Here we can change it for Classic Skin, Metallic, Metro, Midnight, Windows 8 and Windows Aero.
