How to Fixt the Problems of the Proximity Sensor of the Redmi Note 10 Pro

The Redmi Note 10 Pro has already been on sale for a few weeks and no one should be surprised that it has become one of Xiaomi‘s best-selling phones to date. Of course, a good number of users who already have the device in their hands are complaining about some errors that have to do with the proximity sensor not working correctly.

The proximity sensor is reportedly not working as should be expected. Many times you are on a call or listening to long WhatsApp audios and the screen, instead of staying off, turns on . Some users also complain that they enter the CIT menu where you can check the SIM, the microphone, the software and many other things, such as the proximity sensor, but the option to calibrate the sensor does not appear. It just lets you test it, and it doesn’t fail.

The same thing is happening to me, the proximity sensor seems to work randomly or to be badly calibrated otherwise so far very well, hopefully it will be solved with an update

The latest Redmi Note 10 Pro update supposedly fixes the problem

Xiaomi is aware of these errors and has released the MIUI 12 ROM update that seems to be the one that presents this failure. This is a 291.67 MB package identified with the build number MIUI 12.0.6.0 RKFMIXM that, in addition to supposedly solving the proximity sensor problem, also installs the security patch level as of March 2021 on the smartphone. They add performance improvements and system security while preparing the device for the MIUI 12.5 update.

Do you have the sensor properly configured?

If your screen does not turn off depending on what you do with the mobile, the first thing you should do, before thinking if you have any failure on the phone , is to see if the proximity sensor is configured correctly. To do this, follow this route:

  • Open the Settings panel.
  • Enter the Settings section of System applications.
  • Find Call settings.
  • Go to Incoming Call Settings.
  • Activate the Proximity Sensor.

You can also calibrate it from the CIT settings of the terminal, dialing the code * # * # 6484 # * # * in the phone app. On the screen that appears before you select Proximity Sensor Test and check if the screen turns off when you cover the top of the phone. If the number that appears on the screen changes from 5 to 0 the sensor is working correctly.
